Thread: What am i supposed to do with my cable Operator?

Hello all,

In our city the Hathway is cable operator. In fact Hathway acquired the business from previous local cable operator a year back. Now what these ppl are doing is, they are intentionally not showing many popular channels on the normal cable line. They are asking customer to buy a setup top box from them, so that customer can see all channels flawlessly. The reason, they are giving is like all the channels are digital now & i need setup top box to view them. My city(Aurangabad, MS) is not under the the CAS area. So i am not getting the point of setup top box. I think its a cheap trick by these ppl, to collect some more bucks. I even called their branch manager & told him that they are doing wrong thing.

I just wanna know can anything be done in this matter legally? I am thinking about complaining in TRAI, but my previous experience with TRAI is pathetic. They are dumb ppl.sama:

Given the present toothlessness of TRAI and the pathetic slowness of the legal process you may not achieve anything.
Better try grouping some 25-30% of the people of your locality and go togather and theaten to disconnect as a group and shift to DTH. They would quitely drop the idea.
I know of two instances where this worked.

i think the ppl assocaiation idea will not work. the first thing is that the cable & dish TV rates not same. Cable rates are cheap. second thing, ppl always think as the Dish & setup top box as the additional cost. its hard to gather ppl, but i will try.
