Default DTH service and its quality on LCD

OK, i dont know whether this is a similar question to the thread

http://www.indiabroadband.net/direct...tml#post145343 (Best DTH for LCD TV's)

but still if it is this can be deleted!

If you have an LCD TV, does the DTH service you have make any difference to the picture quality or sound quality?

The two threads are related - I will merge them later.

Let me reply to this as quickly but in as much detail as possible:

    a) LCD (and Plasma) TV panels require a very strong and clear signal. Poor signal causes choppy picture. The CRT TVs are much more tolerant in that respect.

    b) Now-a-days, cable TV is also transmitting in digital format via STB and all that. The picture quality in this case is just as good as DTH.

    c) Sound quality is relative. Neither DTH nor cable is transmitting in Dolby Digital (5.1/7.1) as yet (and I am excluding Sun Direct HD). Some channels are stereo whereas many others are mono only. So don't expect HT sound as yet.

To sum up, if your local cable wala is supplying analogue TV, then "Duh! Forget about LCD - stick with CRT TV..
