Default Comparing India DTH services

How can you compare the different DTH services in India in order to find out which one is the best DTH service for you?

What factors would you look out for and what details do you go into when choosing your ideal DTH service?

As far as quality of images go, well they all kind of seem the same quality not much of a difference even those DTH services which have MPEG4 technology!

I have written several articles and posts on this topic. The comparison is made using the following factors (in no particular order):
  • Quality of video and audio
  • Number of channels in the package
  • Package options and a-la-carte channels
  • Cost
  • Service and response
  • Ease of recharging
Everyone has their own method of rating - for some quality is of paramount importance, for others the (availability of) regional channels take precedence while many are cost sensitive.

I will add one more factor to this: the size and type of your TV.
  • The kind of TV that you have at home will make a difference
  • On a 21" CRT TV, you will not find much difference between any DTH transmission
  • For 29"+ CRT TVs, the video quality will start becoming apparent
  • For LCD TVs, component-out (and HDMI in future) will make a difference
