Thread: Which DTH for an HD Ready LCD TV ?

I recently bought a Samsung 32" LCD TV and is looking for a DTH with good clarity.

My family is complaining about lack of clarity of pictures with the current cable TV operator, So thinking about switching to DTH. I have in mind Videocon DTH, which give s almost all channels with south diamond pack for Rs. 275.

What about the picture clarity when viewed on LCD TV? Which is the best value (Non HD) DTH service provider?

If you want seriously good quality, you should go for the safe bets such as TataSky. BigTV PQ is also very good but they are notorious in their service element.

One very good recommendation that I can make is Airtel IPTV where you will get landline, broadband and TV all in one. Their quality is also very good. And Airtel IPTV has a feature called "Time Shift" - in this feature you can watch any program in the last one week. No need to record anything. No need to set reminders or schedule recordings. But Airtel IPTV is available in Delhi/NCR only.

I am not saying the Videocon D2H is bad by the way. I just don't know about their quality. Maybe it is very good also. Videocon D2H is the cheapest DTH today.

I would suggest you to wait as many dth are launching HDTV it will be preferable to go for HD PVR. Tata Sky+ has PVR waiting for it to launch its HD service.

1. Overall cost for one year :

Assumptions are based on that "that we HD buyers would take Full year pack so for…."

Dish TV : I will take South platinum which is Rs. 325 and for a year it works out to be Rs. 3900
Sundirect : Metro pack Rs. 2990 PA + Rs. 300 Add on = Rs. 3290PA
Reliance : Diamond Pack - Rs. 3240 PA

ESPN as of now it is not available as channel in India we have not got the downloading permission yet.

My assumption is that they are giving FIFA event alone. Later they will remove this channel too or to our joy provide more events, but all depends...

Dish : As from the post here : Rs. 50 per channel : Rs. 3000PA for 5 channels
SunHD: Rs. 2000PA for 3 channel (rest is Add on)

Total 3440 for 7 channels

Reliance : Rs. 30 per channel: Rs. 360 PA for 1 channel
