Default Would we ever have all channels in one service provider?
Do you think that we would have all the channels in India from one Satellite TV service provider. As you know that right now we would not have all the channels in India from any of the Satellite service provider. Do you think it would be a possibility?

TRAI has made it compulsory that all channel owners must provide their feed to MSOs (Multi-system operator or cable providers such as Hathway), DTH companies such as DishTV or TataSky, etc.

The pricing and configuration depends upon the final companies.

Both DishTV and TataSky offer almost all the channels that are available in India. Sometimes certain channels are not part of the packages because priice negotiations fail. For example, DishTV is unable to negotiate a price for Neo Sports, because DishTV feels that it will be unviable for them to offer the new channel within the same price that they charged to the subscriber.

You are aware the "freindly neighbourhood cablewala" used to increase the monthly fees arbitrarily. It is not easy for DTH operators to change their prices the same way.

So 99% channels are available on (paid) DTH.

So isn't there any way that we can get a custom channel package because if this facility is available then it would be a really good thing.

This is also what frustrates me the most. I would like to handpick a select list of 50 channels that my family and I watch regularly. Unfortunately channels are presented in a bouquet forcing us to subscribe to channels we do not want.

Custom packages are not something which we would get right now but i am also sure that in near time we would have them when war for customers between this service providers would go to a new level.

Even abroad you have to select channels in bouqets.

One day some day... we would have all things we want as per according to our choice. Just wait for some long time and then things would roll us ( THE CUSTOMERS) ways.

It would take a lot of time before this could happen but still i also keep the same strong hope as you have... but one thing is for sure that it would be a great time when companies would have every thing according to customer needs.
