INX to roll out 11 new channels in 2 yrs

INX Media, a division of INX Network, will launch eleven new channels in news and entertainment space within next two years.

"The plan is to launch eight new entertainment channels during 2008-2009 and three metro news channels in 2009-10," INX Media Founder and CEO Indrani Mukerjea told reporters at the launch of a new programme on the entertainment channel 9X, but refused to divulge investment details.

The network, which has already -9X, general entertainment channel -GEC, Hindi music channel - 9XM and English news - NewsX in its kitty, will roll out three metro news channels in 2009-10, covering city-specific events and happenings.

However, the names of the cities have not been finalised yet.

While the other eight channels scheduled to be launched this fiscal will include three regional music channels (Bengali, Gujarati and Punjabi), three regional entertainment channels in the same languages, and two national channels -one each for music and entertainment.

The new devotional programme on Mata Vaishnodevi is being produced by veteran Dheeraj Kumar's Creative Eye Productions.

Asked whether the company has any plans to roll out a devotional channel, Mukerjea said, "In future, it might be (launched)."
