Default Does Big TV and Tata Sky use the same cable

Hi All,

Got a question..I am doing the wiring of my new house and we are pulling the cable for Tata SKY through the walls. Now does Reliance BIG TV also use the same cable as TATA Sky ? At a later point of time, can I just change my set top box and dish from TATA Sky to BIG TV without having to do the re-wiring ?

Thanks

Yes. Use the thick coaxial cable for better signal strength. The connection must be like this:

Dish+LNB --> to the entry point junction --> parallel connections running all over the house --> STB --> TV

Hi just4kix,

Thanks for your reply..got another question related the first one:

1) If I have 2 TV's, do I need to take 2 Tata Sky connections, that is 2 separate dish and set top boxes ?

2) If I need to take 2 seperate dish, then do i need to do the wiring of 2 separate co-axial cables also ?

Thanks

What you need is a Multi-TV connection. Multi-TV connection is available for Rs. 125/- for every extra TV till 4 (incl original). For the 5th TV, you have to pay new connection charges.

Having said that, I donot know how TataSky works but this is how it works with Dish TV. I expect something very similar with Tata SKy:

- they will give you one dish with a dual LNB.
- two cables will come out of the LNB and run to the two separate STB's in your home
- you will get 2 viewing cards (VC) one for each STB
- VC and STB are tied together, i.e., VC of one STB will not work with the other STB and vice versa
- one STB/VC will be treated as the master connection and the second treated as the child
- all charging/payments are to be done on the master VC only incl charges for the 2nd VC
- installation charges are for each connection to be paid separately in full
- you should not feed the signal from both dishes to the internal cables/wiring in your home; use signal from one dish only and keep the other independant.
- cost of dual LNB + one dish is same as cost of two dishes with single LNB. Sometimes a dual LNB is not available; in this case ask the dealer to install two separate dishes.

I still have a connection. My situation is similar, new house n all. Wiring done though.

The main thing is, where I'm living right now, I have a hathway connection. The parallel wiring runs through the entire house. We have 4 TVs in all. One TV, in the living room, has the STB. That receives the digital signal. Rest of the TVs receive analog signal. It's not bad.. pretty handy. For a match, you go to the big screen with the STB else sit in our own respective rooms n watch whatever.

Now, when I switch, I wonder if this system will work. I have the TV wires running through the entire house, I'll buy one STB for one digital. Will the analog connection work elsewhere?

Can some please try this out and tell me?
