    Question STB & HDTV Compliance

Any idea of whose Set Top Box is High Definition compliance, some thing like 1080p Anyway all operators are cheaters with entry of one of Big Thief, they have become cartel 3 now and 1 regional. None of the then is transparent in displaying real specifications of their equipment on site. They have always got something to hide.

There is no need for any installation charge & Dealers for DTH. People should be able to purchase from their local stores and install themselves. These bas.. tds should give detailed brochure for installation & setting up.

They are not not following TRAI guidelines to price individual channels, instead they use packages and piggyback crapy & free channels and charge helpless cutomers. I may require total 20 channels in all, and will cost less than 100, but I am forced to take big Bhaag Bhosda package.

Thats what they have been doing in mobile & internet and now DTH, Manipulating, Cheating and creating wealth. There is no agency to regulate these bast.. a..rds ie. TRAI is helpless because DOT is working for Relaince, courtsey Mulayam & party. TRAI can not be trusted as it is also hell bent upon alotting spectrum to existing big GSM operators rather than allowing new and foreign operators.

Scenario is such: DOT infected by Reliance virus, TRAI partially infected by COAI [GSM] virus and above all UPA infected by Troajan called +Amar Singh+

3G in near future ??? I don't think so and if it is so they they have already started manipulating that and hence will be of little use to common man.

None of the DTH providers are providing HDTV compliance. HDTV does not exist in India.

Your arguments and complaints about installation are fundamentally flawed. It is not possible to install a dish for a common man. The dish requires to be installed securely so that it does not move and get misaligned during strong winds. The dish also needs to be correctly pointed to the satellite. For this purpose special meters are required that tell that alignment is proper.

DTH is new in India. Installation charges, CPE charges, etc. will go off in time. Already DishTV is offering free STB with a year long contract of the Maxi package. Others will follow. This has been the trend abroad also. In fact, abroad one has to take a minimum period contract. 99% it is a 12 month contract and sometimes it is 6 months.

What you say about channel packaging is true. These should be packaged individually (or grouped wisely) and priced appropriately. Tatasky has started doing that to an extent. TRAI says no more that Rs. 15/- per channel.

I am not asking for HDTV broadcast, I wanted to know whether any of the CPE [STB] provided them is HDTV capable. Is there any CPE which is futuristic. What about quality fo display if present CPE is connected to 42 Inch LCD TV

I beg to differ on installation. Here in my area, with restricted entry, no one comes for installation. Every installation is done by individual. Same goes to DD Direct+ I have seen people installing & configuring themselves since 2 years or so in remote villages. Rs 1000 for installation is unjustified.

It is better to be with cable wala then, who provides more than these DTH operators at Just Rs 75 per month. No initial deposit, no initial cost.

Regarding package or subscription for one year and free STB, that is the biggest fraud ever. They are just collecting money and fix you for a year, you will be locked to them. No need of such free CPE. If they are thinking of customer and gusty enough, let them offer any free scheme for CPE only and do not bundle any compulsary 6 month or 1 year subscription with it.

To the best of my knowledge, only Big TV's STB will be HD ready (not full HD) @ 1024 x 768 because it has component out (Y-Cb-Cr).
