friends can i use the set top box of dish tv for other service provider like local cable or tata sky??
i m finding dish tv quite expensive

No you can't use dishtv settop box with any other cable or Tata sky.

Dear Friend Dishtv is most cheapest among all dth operator. Where other tatasky sun direct airtel and bigtv cost you more then Rs.400 for all channels dishtv cost you Rs.310 for all channels.

That is true. But DishTV has downgraded the multi-TV scheme.

Earlier, you paid 100% for the first connection and 50% for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th connections and you used to get all the channels of the main connection.

Now also you pay 50% but you get a connection that is devoid of many useful channels such as - no Star TV channels, no ESPN/Star Sports/Star Cricket, etc.

So for me, it works out expensive. I am seriously thinking of switching after my current contract runs out.

Here are my calculations:

Tata-SKY
Super Saver Pack = 3025
Lifestyle Gold Pack = 450
Sports Gold Pack = 650
----------------------------
1st Connection Total = 4125
2nd Connection Charge = 1500
----------------------------
Grand Total = 5625
----------------------------

Dish-TV
Titanium Annual Pack = 3167
Tax on Titanium pack = 326.50
----------------------------
1st Connection Total = 3493.50
2nd Connection Charge = 3493.50 (* same as first)
----------------------------
Grand Total = 6987
----------------------------

(*) In case of DishTV the child pack is 155 pm + tax. If I add top-up packages to have all the channels of Titanium pack, the cost becomes more than the TI pack.

Conclusion: For one connection, DishTV is cheaper. For multi-TV, TataSky is better. Of course, things may change in the future.
