Neo Sports is demanding a lot of money for 'feed' rights. Neo paid obscene amount of money for telecasting rights to BCCI. Hence they cannot lower the costs any further.

DishTV is unwilling to pay such a fee because it feels that all Neo channels do not justify their asking price. All they offer is "extra" is cricket in India and that too only Test Matches because DD shows ODIs/T20s free. DishTV believes (rightly or wrongly) that there is not much percentage in Test Matches.

But I agree that both need to talk and come to common ground.

To be very honest, I really do not miss NEO channels.

    • There are six sports channels available on DishTV - Zee Sports, Ten Sports, Star Cricket, ESPN, Star Sports and DD Sports. Two more is not adding any more REAL content.
    • Threre are two channels in the Neo pack - NEO Sports and NEO Cricket. NEO Sports cannot add anything extravagent or noteworth. That leaves NEO cricket.
    • All NEO cricket brings to the table (or should I say TV) are cricket matches played in India organzed by BCCI. These are three types - Tests, ODIs and T20s. Ouf of this, ODIs and T20s are parallely transmitted by DD 1.
    • I am an ardent follower of Tests and like Test cricket over and above everything but look at the stats:
      • BCCI organizes very few tests in India. In 2009, the Indian team played only five tests in India.
      • These test matches are mostly played on weekdays. For example, from the current series vs. SL, there has been no test cricket on any Sat or Sun.
    • So when do I get to watch Test cricket? For this should I pay Rs. 40 or 50 per month? OK, some students and retired people do not get to watch a few Test matches in India. Out of these, how many (unlike me) are really interested in Test Cricket?

    I completely agree with Just4kix,

First Neo Sports channels is just a clone of neo cricket and rightly said don't worth even a single penny.

Remaining is Neo Cricket which shows some cricket and that too only those matches which are played on Indian soil. out of which T-20 and ODI matches are available on DD 1 so as a dishtv subscribers we don't miss any T-20 and ODI matches.

Further we miss only Test Match , which are very few, as said by jUST4KIX, Total test played on indian soil in 2009 is 5 including 3 from current series. so for 4-5 test is it worth spending 40-50 bucks on neo channels?????

    Default Neo

I can always watch the day's highlights in internet after i get to home so i have to say, i really dont miss Neo cricket for Indian series. Ofcourse, watching live cricket is more fun but considering that how much money these foreign channels exhort from indian economy is very sad and thinking about BCCI not sharing the rights with DD, yet their core business is in representing India.. i think govt should ban BCCI from representing India, they only make business out of it and dont reciprocate it back to Indian viewers, rather they sell to exclusive rights outside of India and ultimately its Indians who end up spending money to watch their own team play.. Pathetic.

When customers are ready to pay for important channels than the price of such channels can be taken advantage of. This is a drawback for the customer also colors in the same way is added as a separate channel.
