Yes. But no mention on the web site. Also no idea about the CPE cost, package cost, any exchange offer for existing customers, etc.

To view the Dish TV HD, you need the new set top box, which costs Rs.5990 (source : news)

And then you need to buy the HD channels its Rs. 50 (Source : this was on another forum)

And then you need to buy basic pack and other things.

I guess you will have to pay around Rs. 11000 something...

But they have not started selling any yet... They are testing the channel, that's what the CC informed me...

Yes, To view Dishtv HD, You need to buy a new Dishtv HD STB

Further, Dishtv HD Channel pack will have 4 HD CHANNELS- ZEE TV, NGC HD, ZEE CINEMA HD and Discovery HD. and FIFA world cup live in full hd on Dishtv absolutely free. (Source: indiantelevision.com)

Further Normal channels pack is extra, But i don't think that will cost Rs.11000, I think it will be more economical.

its obvious that you need an HD STB to view HD Channels, in DishTV HD they have changed the input to TV from RCA to HDMI and I think they also included HDD like BigTV.

I will advice some caution before jumping into the HD bandwagon.

    a) Only NatGeo HD and Discovery HD are true HD channels (1080i).
    b) Channels such as "Colors HD" (currently on Sun DTH) are not HD - they are upscaled channels, i.e., SD upscaled to HD.
    c) I expect that Zee HD and Zee Cinema HD will also show upscaled content.
    d) ESPN HD is expected to be true HD (1080i); at least for FIFA World Cup.

Dishtv is giving FIFA world cup in full HD telecasted by ESPN.
further Zee TV HD and Zee Cinema HD will also come in full HD not the upscaled one.

    Says who? Dish TV? Naturally.

Sun DTH is also saying that they are giving "Colors HD" - but that is an upscaled channel.

And note the difference: Full HD vs. True HD. Anything upscaled will give a resolution of 1920x1080 via HDMI thus claiming to be full HD. That does not mean that it is true HD.

While it is possible that the said channels will be true HD, the content is not created in HD (as yet).

HD content will require more space what will be the optimum space of the hardisk to view HD channels (if say a provider gives 8-10 HD channels)and in a better chance to record and store data what would be the optimum space?

I think I have answered this query somewhere. A typical Blu-Ray disc (dual layer / 50 GB) contains about 2 hours of feature film plus extras, alternate sound tracks, etc. The actual content size must be about 35 GB. I have not measured the total size or actual feature size (don't have a BD-ROM), but I think that the feature film alone would be around 25 GB.

So 25 GB = 120 mins. You all do the math. But also consider this. MPEG4 H.264 or AVCHD can use variable bit rate to compress much more. Blu-Ray movies are not compromised that way.

As per actual reports, what alokmis says is correct - Zee TV HD and Zee Movies HD are upscaled channels and not true HD.
