Thread: No warranty on new set top box

Today my set top box went kaput.Remote was also malfunctioning.

dish care guys told me it shall be 250 rs as repair cost.
So instead of repair I bought new set top box for 850 rs(older STB & remote was handed over to them).

First there was no more warranty on the replaced STB.
also they shall take more than 24 hours for mapping till then I can watch only
FTA channels.

I had 3-4 months of subscription left else I would have bought new connection for 990 rs.

if dish does such treatment to old customers it's better to recharge for 1 month only and in such situation dump the old STB & dish antena to scrap guy
and go for new connection or altogether new service provider.

Today Dish care guy called me and said they cant couple the new STB with my VC card, so I have to return the STB.
I returned the STB and they repaired my old STB charging 250 rs.

i had 3.5 months of platinum subscription left else it would have been better to buy altogether new connection@990.

has any body else experienced problem in getting STB replaced?

I had my STB replaced albiet with a cost. The new STB was paired with my old VC without issue. I am not sure why this happened in your case.

The STB carries a warranty of one year. After this, one can opt for an AMC for the entire CPE. I think it costs Rs. 250/pa and it covers STB, dish, LNB, etc. My dish got misaligned due to strong wind/rain and I was not charged any fee for the realignment because of the AMC. AMC is worthwhile.

Dish care guy say, it's only after Diwali they are not pairing.

I also doubt, to shell out 250 for doing minor repairs, he did the trick.

margin on selling STB must be quite less than that.

he still charges 10 rs. per recharge, while Dish tv says not to pay more than recharge amount.

I now use rechargeitnow.com for paying subscription.

My STB was not working at all. I contacted my dealer and he got it replaced. But I had to pay Rs. 750 because at that time I did not have any AMC. I got it later.

You can insist on replacement or threaten to go somewhere else.

I never paid any fee for recharge. I pay my dealer the annual amount and he gets it done for me.

If you are being charged in warranty then it is completely wrong on the part of the Co.

It was out of warranty.
