Thread: No NEO sports.

We with Dish TV are also paying equal to TATA sky subscribers but still we are not getting Neo sports. What are we paying them for. I'll shift to TATA sky this weekend.

Dish is more like a political organization which has disputes with other companies and is not at all worried about the service provided to the customers. Its good to shift to TATA sky as they are much more caring as compared to others.

dude..u must noe dat dish tv's owned by subhash chandran ey created d icl...d fact's dat neo sports is a bcci owned channel n u ll never get neo sports n neo cricket on dish tv...same wy zee sports 's not available on tata sky n other platforms such as big tv etc.!!!!!

Actually that is not the reason. Neo Sports wants a hefty fee from Dish TV and Dish TV feels that the fee is unjustified as Neo Sports onlu USP is rights to Cricket in India which is shown free of cost on DD1 and/or DD-Sports.

If they wish to add Neo channels to the package, they will have to do one of the following:

Option 1: Add the channels to the Maxi package, keep the cost same to subscribers (Rs. 300 pm or Rs. 3240/- pa) and absorb the additional cost.
Option 2: Do all of the above but increase the cost of Maxi package by Rs. 30 to Rs. 50 pm or so.
Option 3: Add it as an a-la-carte package, the way TataSky has done.

Option 1 is not feasible because Dish TV is not making profit as yet.
Option 2 will be detrimental to its interest as many people will say that they are being forced to pay for something they do not need (since matches are being shown on DD anyway).
Option 3 may not be chosen by many. Less that 5% will probably take such an option which does not justify the investment and again Dish TV will make losses.

Note the following:

- Neo Sports is not offered free on TataSky. It is a separate add-on package. But yes. The option exists for those who want it.
- Zee Sports is not on TataSky because TataSky feels that it does not justfy the cost (and they are right). Zee Sports does not have an USP.
- BCCI cannot dictate to any content provider, be it Neo Sports or ESPN-Star, or cannot pull strings on any channel broadcaster such as TataSky, DishTV, BigTV, etc. not to show their matches on some platform. This is a restrictive trade practice and they will run into serious problems with TRAI and the courts.
