Default Dish TV life time offer

With digitalization being made mandatory in metropolitan cities, people are moving towards digital television services. Digital television will provide sharper and crisp pictures which are unimaginable in analogue services. Moreover reception problems that hamper your viewing experience like ghosting, white spots can now become the thing of the past. With uninterrupted picture quality the viewing experience reaches a new level. Digital television gives better picture quality with widescreen. Local cable service provider cannot broadcast in high definition; hence if you want to watch your favorite channel in high definition it is mandatory that you switch over to digital television services. The biggest advantage of digital broadcast is that it consumes lesser bandwidth when compared to analog. Digital television gives access to more number of channels. Digital quality is must if you are using LCD or LED televisions. The resolution is higher thereby giving larger than life pictures.

    Direct to Home services

DTH or Direct to Home television brings satellite programs to your doorstep with the help of a personal dish that is connected on the subscriber’s premises and a set top box. With DTH you can bid goodbye to cable operators as the programs are distributed to the home directly without the need for a middleman. The biggest advantage of DTH is that it can reach even the remotest locations as there is no need for cable or wires. DTH signal is received directly from the satellite and the subscriber has the advantage of scanning over 700 channels both national and international. DTH is an encrypted transmission that is brought into your living room via the small dish antenna that is fixed on the subscribers premises. Here you have the option to go for pay channels or free channels. There are different types of packages that a customer can choose from.

    About the Company

Dish TV has the credit of being India’s first Direct to Home (DTH) entertainment service. Part of Zee Network Enterprise (Essel Group Venture) EGV has given a new address to Television viewing experience. Dish TV has redefined Television viewing experience by bringing digital quality technology into Indian homes. It caters to high definition broadcasting as well. The picture quality and sound effects are superior and can change the viewing experience of Indian subscriber forever. Dish TV has made to the next level with latest features like Electronic Programme Guide (EPG), 400 plus channels, interactive TV, movie on demand, parental lock, games and more.

    Dish TV life time offer

The deadline for digitalization had been set for November 5, 2012 and despite plans to extend the deadline many customers are moving from analogue to digital TV ever since the announcement was made. Existing cable TV format will cease to exist once complete digitalization comes to force. Keeping this in mind and to enhance their customer base Dish TV has come up with life time free offer. The scheme is simple; the customer will be given access to 70 free channels at any point of time even if the account shows zero balance. The free channels include Hindi GEC, Hindi movies and music channels, devotional channels, lifestyle, news and regional channels. Apart from this, Doordarshan channels will be broadcast for free.

    Life time offer plan

The subscriber has to pay Rs 12,499 as down payment to be eligible for this plan. On paying the amount the subscriber can get a new Dish TV connection with 272+ channels and service for a life time. Installation charges of Rs 200 are added and service tax is extra. However to take advantage of this offer subscribers have to recharge with a minimum amount of Rs 200 every six months. With over 400 channels to choose from Dish TV including 21 audio channels the offer is worth the investment. The set top boxrs that reaches the customers are standard boxes with or without recorder as per the requirement of the customer.

List of 70 free channels include 9X, 9XM, Aastha, Air Aasemese, AIR Bangla, AIR Gujarati, AIR Hindi, AIR Kannada, AIR Malayalam, AIR Marathi, AIR NE, AIR Oriya, AIR Punjab, AIR Ragam, AIR Tamil, AIR Telugu, AIR Urudu, AIR VBS, Aalami Sahara, Aastha Bhajan, B4U Movies, B4U Music, Channel List, Chardikala Time TV, Cinema TV, DD Bharati, DD Girnar, DD Gyan Darshan, DD India, DD Marathi, DD News, DD North East, DD Punjabi, DD Rajyasabha, DD Sports, SS Urdu, DD1, DD12 Kashmiri, DD Malayalam, DD5 Podhigai, DD6 Oriya, DD7 Bangla, DD8 Telugu, DD0 Chandana (Kannada), DW, Day & Night News, Dish Buzz, Divya, ETC, Enterr10, Enterr10 Movies, FM Gold, FM Gold-Mum, FM Rainbow, FM Rainbow – Ch, FM Rainbow – Bir, Firangi, Gyandarshan-2, Gyanvani, Katyayani TV, Loksabha TV, MH1 Shraddha, NHK, News Express, P7 News, Russia Todaym Radio Kashir, Sanskar, Star Utsav, Sadhna, Sadhna News, Samay TV, Shakti, TV-24, Vyastv, Whats on India, Zee Jagran, Zee Smile, Zee Salaam.

The lifetime free offer has been introduced by Dish TV to wade away the fears of blackout once digitalization comes into effect. The plan will be available in four metros. With the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India fixing the base price of Rs 100 per month for cable multi-system operators to charge the subscribers, Dish TV has come up with a lifetime free offer where the subscriber can enjoy free viewing experience. To make the offer viable Dish TV has launched a standard definition (SD) set top box for those who want to avail life time free pack.

Dish TV uses MPEG-2 digital compression technology to broadcast digital quality images and sound to their subscribers using NSS-6 Satellite at 95.0. Dish TV has a solid customer base of 12 million customers until early this year and is slated to be the largest DTH company in Asia. With Dish TV launching Dish truHD in the year 2011 subscribers have gained access to 5x picture clarity on their high definition television with 16:9 wide aspect ratio and 5.1 surround sound. Dish TV can be enjoyed while on the move as it provides mobile satellite TV on trains, aircrafts and vehicles.

I dont think life time offers are good, for instance if later on there is some better DTH which you wish to change to then your stuck with your current one. Another example which is quite rae if a DTH service provider decided to shut down its services you are again stuck, something similar to Reliance Digital TV customers may go through when they sell out to Sun TV.

You should never take a life time offer for any service, because there is no guarantee that the service will work as good as it is working at the moment, or you don't know whether down the line you would want to change the service provider. It is really not worth doing this to save a few hundred rupees.

I have seen a close family member, to be precise my sister go through problems with Dish TV. She took the life time offer, a few months down the line there was some problem with the service and they wanted to change DTH providers but couldn't because of the life time offer. This was just a coincident that there were problems with the DTH, but the point is you can not do much if you have given money upfront.

I had subscribed to their life time offer, 2 years back. I took the HD Royale pack, which now costs 600INR/month. With the one time payment offer, now I get the same package for 325INR/month. Isnt that worth the deal?? Yes, there are risks if the service provider plans to sell it to others. This is where consumers must choose wisely. I had offer from Airtel also at that time, but I didnt go with it. Being the fact that Dish TV started the DTH industry in India, they hold the major market share, and being the part of Zee Netwoks (ESSEL Group), I dont expect them to run out of business or sell it...unlike what happened with WorldSpace satellite radio. . .

I stil belive the decision was wise, although there are chances some new channels recently added wont be part of your pack. Well, unfortunaly yes, this could happen, but even then you have the choice to subscribe to those channels with an additional cost. Secondly, some channels are available with Airtel / Sun / Videocon / Reliance only. Thats your choice . . .When the company is giving you the best offer, they expect the customer to remain loyal. . .

All DTH services are costly, and the major chunk goes as tax! Check this link.

    Cheers!

That is half the price, so it does work out cheap. I think bigger companies like Tata Sky and Dish TV wont really sell out because they have a large number of users and provide the best services out of all the DTH providers.

So it should actually be worked out then how much it would cost on a monthly basis, you save money! I really hope there is no catch though, I mean by the cost being nearly as half what does the company gain from this?

The company gets the customer for atleast 5 years. . . in my case. The catch is, if I feel like switching to another DTH provider, I'll loose the money. This is not the case with most of the existing customers. Most customers switch with in an year, or even with in months! The company looses money there. The cost of the equipment (the dish, LNB, cable, and the setop box) is not cheap! Thats where DTH service providers loose their money.

Secondy, even if they have adequate customers or not, they need to hire the transponders from the satellite company. Dish TV so far has feeds from NSS6, INSAT, and AsiaSAT. So they pay for 3 satellites, while rest all DTH providers are dependent on INSAT. The point is Dish TV will have more channels than others since they've space to accomodate future channels. TATASky is facing issues with INSAT with limited trasponders available to them!

So, the initial investment that I made, will get them more revenue. I hope you get the picture now?

There are no catches. Dish tv is not going any where and it is a good profit making company. You can have the taste of success too by buying Dish TV shares in the stock market. Sky is the limit with middle class being on the rise.

Thanks for this information Nevinjohn. I have always been away from the idea of making advance payments, but in this case I think it is a good idea.

Sometimes individuals have different offers given to them, so it is worth calling your DTH provider to see what they have on offer for you.

Do you know how old this thread is? I had started this thread in 2012, when I had subscribed to their offer. Now its going to be 2017 soon, and I have not faced any issues so far and the connection is still going good. They have not changed the package.
Please take time to read the thread. :-)

    Cheers!
