Rep Power: 2 | I recently went to a relatives house and they have dish tv there, and as compared to Tata Sky i found it quite crap!!!!! The features on Dish TV are nothing as compared to Tata Sky, when changing channels the process is slightly slower. To my knowledge Dish TV doesn't provide Colors and UTV channel..........although i may be wrong on this about UTV! |

Rep Power: 5 | I have always said that TataSky UI is much better. As far as signal quality goes, I found it to OK - TataSky slightly better. It is not correct analysis of comparing signal quality from one place to another - there are some variables that come into play. For instance, dish alignment may not be proper and TV tuner itself will play some part. LCD TV tuner expects extremely strong and stable signal and will not do any auto-correction whereas a CRT TV has auto gain control. Best way to compare is to visit a dealer who deals in both and compare at his place on the same TV. DishTV does not have Colors or UTV. TataSky has them but both are part of the Lifestyle Gold pack which is extra. The Lifestyle Gold pack has the following:
This will cost Rs. 45/- extra I think. Sports Platinum Pack (ESPN, Star Sports, Star Cricket) is another Rs. 30/- extra which many (I, at least) cannot do without. Finally there is 'Ten Sports' available as 'A La-Carte' channels for Rs. 15/-. So the cost of TataSky jumps to Rs. 260/- (Super Saver Pack) + Rs. 45/- (Lifestyle Gold) + Rs. 30/- (Sports Platinum) + Rs. 15/- (Ten Sports), viz. Rs. 350/-. Comparatively Dish Maxi is Rs. 300/- but then you do not get NDTV Good Times, UTV Movies, World Movies, BBC Entertainment, UTVi, and Colors but you get MGM and TCM which show some really good movies. DishTV Maxi also has three more movie channels - Zee Premier, Zee Action, Zee Classic which show movies with one or two ad breaks only but movie selection leaves much to be desired. Neo Sports and Neo Cricket is also missing on DishTV but available as add-on Sport Gold pack for another Rs. 30/-. p/s. I talked to Dish Customer support yesterday and they told me that negotiations are on with Colors and it may soon appear on the network. Same is true for NDTV Good times. The guy (some manager) told me that they do not wish to increase the cost of the package and that is why, the delay. My neighbour has Dish TV and TataSky both and he says TataSky is better in terms of quality but costlier and I agree. I asked them why don't they shift to one provider and avail the multi-TV offer but he says that his father likes to watch TCM all the time and they like to have other channels not available on Dish.

Rep Power: 2 | TCM and MGM are really not any major channels, and as far as it goes for Chinese and Japanese channels who needs those, unless you fully understand any of those languages............well i know i dont! |

Rep Power: 5 | I agree about the Chinese/Korean channels - sheer waste of space. As regards to TCM and MGM - it is a matter of choice. TCM (Turner Classic Movies) really show some really good (hollywood) movies - especially from the B&W era. MGM also shows Hollywood movies - to a movie fan like me these are a plus. As I have said always, TataSky has slightly better quality and UI but DishTV gives more for the money. |

Rep Power: 1 | I agree with you Just 4 KIX, I don't think their is any such feature which s available on Tata sky and not their in dishtv, in addition dishtv has lots of feature and exclusive channels which are not their on any platform. |

Rep Power: 1 | I am just curious as I do not know the answer. Is dishtv in India the same company as Dish TV in the USA? |
