Default Sahara One and Filmy are out of Maxi package

On the lines of this thread: http://www.indiabroadband.net/dish-t...arged-now.html (CNBC channels will be charged now..!!!!)

I have discovered that DishTV is now also going the TataSky way of creating packaged channels. They have removed Sahara One and Filmy from the Maxi set and are now part of the regional Punjabi pack available for Rs. 25/- extra per month.

This I found after talking to the DishTV CC.

I am seriously thinking of switching to TataSky (95%) in December (when my DishTV subscription ends).

It is something like that I meant, nero001.

I have Dish Maxi/Marathi package and I used to get the two channels till a week ago and now I won't get them unless I subscribe to the Punjabi pack.

By the Maxi package offer, I can pick only one regional pack; so if I subscribe to Punjabi pack, I have to let go Marathi pack which is not a choice for me.

I bet. That is why I am thinking of switching to TS.

I had always thought that TS scored on video quality (by a small fraction) and UI (big extent) over DishTV. Also rain outage is less in TS. TS would cost Rs. 350/- for the current channels I have (or rather had) on DishTV. If DishTV is same cost or near about the same, I may as well go for better features.

I can guarantee that tata sky is the best, you wont find any kinds of problems with their services or packages.

I think TRAI should take note of this.It is the body that can take action against these greedy DTH players and save the customers.Whetaher it is Dish or TS all are same. All want to extract as much money as possible from their cutomers' pocket.

I think it is time we brought changes in our constitution and make "Right to Choice" as one of our fundamental Rights. Why in the packages I need to pay for the channels which I don't see. Can't they develop a system where the custmer has list of channels to choose and charged according to that list.I mean the CAS in DTH platform.

I called the DishTV CC. Surprisingly, I got connected in 1 minute. The CC told me that Sahara One and Filmy were being provided as free preview and were always part of Punjabi pack.

I understood you. But my point is Sahara One and Filmy should not be part of a regional pack. Regional pack should be with regional channels only.

OK. So how does Maxi pack work? It costs Rs. 300/- pm and for that you get the listed common channels of the Maxi pack and you have an option of any one of the regional pack. Being from Maharashtra and Marathi speaking, I naturally opted for Marathi regional pack. Now if I wish to have Sahara One and Filmy, I need to opt for Punjabi pack.

Sahara One and Filmy being part of a regional pack is very perplexing indeed. If they were formed into another add-on pack that would be understandable.
