Hi everyone,

Many of us use internet based telephony (VOIP) such as Yahoo! Voice, Skype, etc. The question is how much bandwidth is used during such a call.
  • So yesterday, I decided to measure it myself.
  • I had a conference call to attend at 8:30pm for one hour.
  • So instead of the usual way of calling our company phone operator (on normal voice line) and asking him to connect to the bridge, I decide to use Cisco VPN and Nortel Softphone.
  • I switched the modem off and on at 8:20 pm so as to get a clean record in the BSNL usage site.
  • My call started at 8:30 pm sharp and lasted till 10:08.
  • I switched off the modem immediately after the call.
  • Today the usage portal is showing 154944 KB used. So the usage has been 1581.06 KB per minute or 26.35 KB/s.
Hope this information is useful to you all.
