Rep Power: 12 | These petetions are no good... thats not how businesses work unfortunately. Its not that they are here for your of my welfare... all isps are in the market to make money and its a free country they do what they like. You cannot even move a government to do something or change a decision by signing petetions even though its a democratic country. There is hardly anything we can do at the moment except for sticking with the cheapest isp (every one of us) and this will make the costlier ones bring their prices down.. Its demand and supply which decides a price not petetions. |

Rep Power: 3 | Hahaha.. I agree with Admin too ! But press can make a difference..we know what happens when this and that goes on in the country on a large scale !! Let's ask people from other countries to do this for us. The Government would be insulted by rejecting it.. |

Rep Power: 12 | There is nothing illegal about charging so much money ... press wont even take up this story as it doesnt exist atall. Prices of broadband are coming down steadily and in a couple of years time prices here will be at par with the world if not lower. Its competetion that decides the prices not movements by consumers. More demand less supply rises prices, less demand more supply will bring the prices down. When there is more choice a consumer can switch if an isp charges too much so slowly prices will come down. I remember paying Rs16 per min for out gouing calls on airtel and Rs14 per min for incomming calls. How much is it now? Broadband has not taken off yet. I even remember paying for dialup by the min and it used to cost Rs7-8k every month for using dialup back in 2001. There are happy days ahead |

Rep Power: 3 | That's what I hate about India. You guys never know what could be the desires of a boy who hates this damn country ! Everyone rejects. If it stays this way forever, then why do we live here ? Those guys in countries such as UK, USA (I know comparing developed and developing), but look at it again!! We are DEVELOPING then why not demand for what we need ? If we demand, then what eventually happens is we faster the way this damn country develops. We will have better things to do. I see there at the petition that there are more people from foreign signing it than we who need it !! Pretty weird guys! Now, what a 14 year kid wants to say is suppressed just in his family itself. I don't want that. I will speak up, I don't care !! |

Rep Power: 12 | smartflight we are developing and we are growing... we are developing and growing faster then ever before at the moment and we will continue to but nothing changes in a day take it easy my friend India is doing well for itself and in future things will change for good. You might say that I am trying to stop you from doing that petetion thing but thats not the case I am just trying to say what I think. Railwire might be stalled coz a group of private operators might have bribed a few officials who agreed to put the project in a cold bag.... but how would this petetion help? it will fall on deaf ears. Prices reduction by other isps? Not a chance with a petetion... I am not saying that you shouldnt do it but I am saying that it will not have any outputs.. its a complete waste of your time and energy. If you want isp's to reduce prices get our government to open up the isp market to forign players and get bsnl and mtnl to share the list mile connectivity with private operators like other countries do. Once forign isps are allowed to provide services in India it will increase competetion and the prices will have a free fall from where they are right now. Demand and Supply is what decides the prices and our government is not letting more supply from abroad come in coz if they do people would stad at jantar mantar in protest saying why are forign companies allowed here. Its a catch 22 situation and the culprit is our dear chacha Nehru. |

My 2 cents. Change, when abrupt, causes great pain and suffering. The classic examples are glassnost and perestroika. While those were necessary in the ertwhile Soviet Union, too fast an implementation caused great upheaveal. One might say that all we are asking for a high speed internet at affordable prices. But it is not so simple. And then there is a bit of unfair competition involved. The Railways own massive piece of land all along the tracks and thus have free access to the land next to tracks. Their land acquisition cost is zero. This is somewhat true for state owned BSNL and MTNL also but not so for private players.
