Rep Power: 1 | My comp is a gaming machine having a 9800gt and AMD 5200 + dual core and 160 gb Hdd , 500 W psu ,8200 nvidia chipset My comp was on for one full week while downloading due to this my electricity charges are increasing from a greater margin. I need suggestions for good softwares that help save power while downloading from the internet. Any other modes of reducing electricity consumption while downloading is also entertained |

| The only thing you can do is put your computer in hybernation untill NU starts and then automatically shut it down after 8 AM. MY suggestion : If you have an older system u can use that solely for d/l. usually older systems consume less power, ofc depends on the config |

| to save the power you have to switch off the monitor thats all you can do...! as when you are downloading, you will send data & receive data then write analyze it then write that in to HDD so for all this process all the tings in CPU is needed so cant switch off anything except monitor....! |

Rep Power: 1 | Higher speed conn => less time => less electricity. Or Buy game dvd => no download => no electricity. |

Rep Power: 2 | maybe u can save some power by disabling many startups during downloading. but i'm not sure how much it'll be effective as most startups consume very less power. but may be u could temporarily disable graphics card and a part of ram so that u use only the part of computer thats used for downloading(i don't know whether its possible but its just a suggestion that someone might probe on and reply) |
