Default Airtel Freedom2999 is not at all "FREE"dom

I started to use Airtel Freedom 2999 new DSL service last July end, with 2MB DL speed with unlimited plan. September 19th, I found the DL speed got worse, around 1MB only. I called Airtel Service and was told that due to the decision by Telecom Authority of India, 100GB has been set as maximum usage with 2MB DL speed, and this decision was by January 2009. When I told the service guy that I had no problem in usage more than 100GB with BSNL ADSL service till end of July. He just kept quite over phone. And after that telephone, I found in a Airtel WEB page, that they have set a restriction for DL speed if usage is over 100GB.

They did this change without any prior notice to users, and cheated me with a malicious lie story when I called.

Why Airtel is not polite and does not respect users?
Do people in India accept such attitude to users by Airtel?

Airtel has a 100GB upper limit within the fair usage policy for 1mbps and 1mbps connections. It is way bad for lower speed connections. It is high time that we raise our voice with TRAI about the high charges and slower speeds and about the Fair Usage Policy. We are getting cheated right in front of the eyes of the Department of Telecommunications and TRAI, the regulatory authority. Sword does not work where Pen does, now. If all of us write to TRAI, things should change, or at the least will move in the right direction. We should also continue to write our minds on forums like this. Lack of awareness for our rights is another problem. Everyone paying for the so called "broadband" needs to understand that he needs to take it up as a serious issue at it concerns him everyday, besides that he/she is being made to pay through his/her nose the high rates being charged along with the so called Fair Usage policy.

Night timings are 2am to 8am of BSNL of the plan you mentioned and it's Rs500 not Rs250 for your kind info, what pathetic timings, people who got no job and life will go for that plan and 2Mbps is nothing in todays times, 1GB takes ages to download on a 2Mbps connection, 8Mbps Unlimited is the right speed for today's downloading needs.

In 2 Mbps, 1 GB file can be downloaded in 1:20 Hour that means in only 80 minutes. For me 2 Mbps is enough, but it depends on user, you may be high-fy user, so go for 8 Mbps Airtel plan.

First look on the country in which you live, then decide ............
Who do not want such a speed but till now it is not affortable, atleast fo me.
