First of all there is no current standardization so if you are moving from one place to another then the DSL modem is of no use. You will have to buy a new equipment to change ISPs. Then DSL is expensive. Many customers are not willing to shell out so much money for Internet access. Then DSL is also distance dependence because if you stay far from DSL Access Multiplexer then you may get the lower the data rate. Access in rural areas is also not very good. So it is obvious that it has limited availability. Moreover DSL is also a very new technology for all. More over there is reliability issue as the down time is more in DSL. |
