    Default Unlimited Broadband with satisfaction?

    Hi,

I am currently living in Bangalore. Mainly, I have a Tata Broadband 2.0 Wimax connection (300kbps) which I am paying a monthly rental of 1000+ tax.
And their service and the connection is just pathetic. ( Had only a max download speed of 17kbps) Before I had Reliance Broadnet 600 kbps, I was happy with it but I wasn't happy with their post paid plans.

But now, I am interested in taking a new connection. So I would ask you to suggest some good plans since I often download movies and games i.e 2 - 5 gb. (Please do not suggest TATA / Hathaway) Anything except that is OK.

Mainly, first preference is > There shouldn't be disconnections a lot.
    > I need good speeds of downloads above that is 60 kBps n above. (512 kbps)
    > Unlimited Plans
    > I want it below the range of < 1300 rs max!
    > And please do not suggest WiMax.
    > Displeased because Airtel is not available in my area yet.

I have two options that is BSNL and Reliance.
So I don't know which one works well, since Reliance has bought the new 400 kbps Surf Addiction. And do let me know about the reviews of BSNL ULF plans and their download speed and services.

    Your suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks,
    John.

If you want high speed connections, then just close your eyes and pick reliance..They charge rs999/- for unlimited plan I guess.

Thanks for the suggestion. But have you had any experience with Reliance Broadnet? By the way howz BSNL UL 1350 (512 kbps) ? What's the average download speed and torrent speed? I want somebody who have had an experience to reply with.

    Note: No general suggestions please.

@Rinsejohn the speeds have been doubled now.
You can get a 64KB/s speed for the plan UL750 and UL750 Combo.
Earlier it was 256kbps but now it has been doubled to 512kbps even some of the BSNL karamchaaris are not aware of this news. The speeds were revised in June 2010.
So as per your plan and your need BSNL UL750 is the best plan I got my connection within 2 hours.
    after paying the Security Deposit.
and the speeds are constant between 45-55KB/s down and max 48KB/s up.

I already have Reliance 1 mBps combo plan for 1099! I am happy with it. Getting good download speeds at 95 - 100 KB/s in Mozilla FF / Chrome and 120 KB/s in Internet download manager. Benchmarking in torrents (Bitcomet = 110 KB/s max, average 95KB/s) !!

    Hi there,

I'm using the BSNL 1350 UL plan - this gives me 4 mbps speed upto 20GB and 512 after that. BSNL seems to be really good and accurate in terms of plans as the speed they offer is exact (at least for me in Chennai) and consistent. The speeds of course varies in torrents depending on peers but if it's something that's seeded well - it goes to exactly 90-95% of the projected speed. I'm guessing the remainder speed might be eaten up by some other little internet active processes.

In terms of torrent speeds without all that kbit / mbit nonsense in terms of bytes- I usually get 400KB/s-450KB/s sometimes 475KB speeds on a very well seeded torrent. On average you can expect anywhere between 350-450KB/s I guess depending on what you're downloading and how many seeds are present and connectable. This can be a lot lower of course if you're downloading something with very little seeds or you haven't setup your torrent client properly or have some hidden processes that eat into your download bandwidth.
And on the 512 kbps line I get 58-62KB/s if I don't have any other download going on.

I would really recommend BSNL but my only beef is, I use up 20 GB in a week and halfs time - two n a half weeks time at that high speed and I'm stuck with the 512 speed for the rest of the month which is very frustrating which is like living like a king in the morning and dying like a beggar in the evening
