Thread: Aamir to star opposite Kate Winslet?

After conquering Bollywood through performances as diverse as a colonised villager (Lagaan), a dyslexic teacher (Taare Zameen Par) and a man with short-term memory loss (Ghajini), Aamir Khan is reportedly ready to play a madman.

But that's not all. Rumour from the Cannes Film Festival is that director Pan Nalin is prepared to cast Aamir opposite recent Oscar winner Kate Winslet, for a film based on the short story Toba Tek Singh by Saadat Hasan Manto, which takes a look inside a Lahore mental asylum in 1947, using the situation to examine the Indo-Pak relationship around the time of Partition.

Pan Nalin has reportedly said that either Kate Winslet or Rachel Weisz could give justice to the role of Dr Sophie; he plans to meet both the actresses after the Cannes festival to finalise the casting.

Winslet, like Khan, is known for playing a diverse range of roles -- and is considered by many to be the finest English-speaking actress of her generation. Some of her noted performances include Titanic, Sense and Sensibility, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Little Children, Revolutionary Road and The Reader.

Reports say that Aamir is impressed with the script and has expressed a desire to play the male lead Bishan Singh. If he signs the dotted line, then you will see him playing the role of a lunatic in a mental asylum.

Another name mentioned for the male lead role is Saif Ali Khan.

Storyline seems to be suit aamir, But that would be quick to comment on that..We should wait for some more time...

Can someone translate the Hindi posts.

Why do people post whole messages in Hindi.

I understand a single punch line or a hello or hi in Hindi is OK
but why don't you post in English?

I am not 'demanding' but just requesting.

This forum is read by people all over India and the world
and many people don't know Hindi. These people will
just feel excluded.

Consider this scenario, you are in a group at a party
and there are non-Hindi people, don't you think it
would be rude if you are talking in Hindi?????

english is not my language..if this forum were in hindi, i would have never used english...

remeber, use the language which your heart says, ....but when you speak your language, we may not understand so pls traslate that to Hindi..

Its tough to translate it exactly. But he seems to hate aamir and he says that aamir is nothing when compared to kate winslet.

its just like domains are in english, but they can have material of any language....
for ex ( hindi.com, bharat.com etc)

Like farce there are many members who dont understand Hindi. We must respect all members irrespective of the language they speak. English is an universal language which you know very well. So, we must avoid the use of any Non-English language in the forum. Farce is a very senior and respectable member of IBF. I was a bit angry for your post even after farce requested to post in English. Its ok. Forget it. I am not angry anymore. You are like a brother to me.

Someone may or may not like a particular actor. But aamir khan is one of the most talented and respected and successful actors of bollywood. How do you see this combination of Bollywood and Hollywood?

I am neutral on Amir Khan, don't hate him and don't love him

Kate Winlset I thought sucked in Titanic, then I watched
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, one of my favourite movies
and became her fan, she had a wonderful performance in that movie.

Are we not underestimating Aamir here? What is the level of the princess? Why is this a common conception that all hollywood actors are better than bollywood actors? Aamir is a world class actor. I also like Kate winslet, but I think she will have to match Aamir's standard of acting if they work together.

WTF.. Competing with kate... I really hate her in titanic, Once in a while she's ok..I'm ardent fan of aamir...And i know he can match the hollywood standards, may be better than that....
