Default Big fat Indian Wedding-Melody or Noise??

    Hi,

Its winter season and the auspicious time for wedding especially here in North India. Recently one of my friend got married I was really wondering what is the "band baja" doing there! Are they playing music or making noise causing nuisance to their neighbors? .

I live in Delhi, and yesterday I came late with a terrible headache. Those who have migraine realize the pain. I was almost asleep and suddenly this band happened near my balcony. Not only it ruined my sleep but pushed my headache to the next level!

Why cant we have these occasions arranged in a proper way, instead of making noise, why not have a decent reception and pooja? Moreover we already invite our relatives and why do we want to disturb others??

    How many agree?

ohh i feel sad about your experience...

but could you say the same for the "santa claus rally" organised in every city... they also have music and all stuff.. and when its new year you forgot the sounds of crackers and drum beats (probably wrong point if you dont dance and light crackers:P than you dont enjoy in life i would say )

the problem is India is a very big country. just like you many may get problems with a marriage ceremony, some could get annoyed by a mosque namaz prayer... its about how much courage and patience you have in yourself when you are living in a diverse society, specialy one like Delhi..

than second point in India, most of the marriages are taken as "first and last" marriages. we dont have a ritual here to leave our spouses just because of "not supportive"- or "not working". its an ultimate relationship building of two people and their families.. so its taken as a joy....

I tried to clear my points... i also think that patients and people in bad mood may get annoyed but the marriage people are dancing on the worst bollywood dance beats.. :P

Yes perhaps the oldest mention that i remember is "Dholak-damroo possession during Lord Shiva's marriage with Mata Parvati".

Totally agree buddy. In fact, even I am against the Santa party., unless ofcourse its just with the choir/instruments inside the home.

    dude.

once i was surprised to see "Mourning procession of a dead monkey" in Varanasi..
and what kind of a mourning was it?? people were dancing/cheering and spreading gulal(holi colors) over each other and taking a monkey(who is perhaps the leader monkey) to the cremation centre.. lol

so you see, for some people(in the rally) it was some kind of stuff but for a person like a foreigner it will be a total bs and crappy lulwut stuff :P

localites were laughing (and perhaps they see it once in a week) on those people and they were giving sweets to people.. (i think its for prasad, but not the way prasad is given; very cheerfully and stupidly).

so on the sake of mourning of a monkey, werent they disturbing school students?businessmen?whole city traffic?and old aged people who suffer from suffocation cause of crowd formation?

so i conclude "Marriage celebration" is better than this "Monkey stuff".
