Tata indicom Wimax frequent disconnection only with wireless router and dynamic IP

Hi,

I am also facing frequent disconnection issues with my Tata WiMax (infinity 384 kbps). I have Linksys WRT54G2 wireless router.

But one special thing I noticed is -> Before taking the router I used the connection using the network cable directly (inserted into my laptop) and for 2 days there was no disconnection at all.

As soon as I started using the wireless router I am getting frequent disconnect problem. But the strange thing is that after the disconnect it does not take me to the TataIndicom default login page (where it takes you for the first time for starting a session). and it connects automatically.

So I think these disconnects are not from Indicom's end, They are happening due to my wireless router, perhaps my router is not able to send signals to my laptop but is able to maintain the session with indicom server.

I will try using the Internet through network cable today and check if the disconnects are gone.

Meanwhile I just wanted to know if somebody else has seen such problem with same or other router's. I asked my neighbors who also have the same configuration. he told that he used to get frequent disconnect when he had dynamic IP. after switching to static IP connection is stable now.

Thanks in advance
Rahul

Tata Indicom WOES!

I got a tata indicom flash 384 plan but realized I needed static ip for it to be of any use to me. Their online itnerface to change plans is useless...

I got a tata indicom flash 384 plan but realized I needed static ip for it to be of any use to me. Their online itnerface to change plans is useless and doesn't work! So I made a request for changing the plan.

That was 2 months back. After about 20 emails and 20 phone calls later I got a call that my plan has been changed. I saw in my account and it shows my plan as a "Power" plan which comes with a static IP. To my amazement though I was still getting a dynamic IP. I sent an email again.

Now they are telling me that I have to pay Rs. 2000 extra to get a static IP but that is "refundable". The money will be added to my "account balance" but I can never get it back as cash! So that's what refundable means for them. I've really lost hope with them!

ON the brighter side - the connection is good and fast for surfing and I've never had downtimes.

And juz now I got a call that I have used 66 GB last month and that if I cross 70GB my line will be disconnected! The B#(%terds !! So what if I used 66 GB it's still under their "unlimited" limit of 70 gb !
