    Default Posters or paintings?

Do you prefer paintings or posters to decor your home? I am more for paintings, they still have that certain charm that makes them attractive.
Posters are more like pictures to me. My home has many paintings. I like to paint as well so I like to decor my own home myself.

I think paintings are better for home decor!

But what is the difference in posters and paintings?
Why would people stick up posters in their homes anyway?

Paintings, if you can afford them. Even the cheapest good A4 size painting costs Rs. 2000/- or so.

Yes they do, i too do painting and drawing and wish to start selling them or putting them up somewhere.

But i have never understand what some people mean by posters, according to me posters have always been something done with poster paint and something to pass a message to people or a banner like thing!

By posters, they probably mean the pictures.

But that is something which comes in paintings too!

But i suppose it may be a different style of painting!

For example painting of a flower would be with different shades, colors, and techniques, where as a poster of a flower would be with plain colors without any detail.......is that right?

When you say posters its digital (created/modified in computer).
Painting are pictures, drew by people with hand (straight to canvas).

There are hand painted posters too ...but generally posters dont involve as much creativity/imagination as paintings .... they r just reproductions of real life objects

I've been to a few art exhibitions lately, and the best part is the artist will have an interestin story for every paintin which makes it more special..:4:

Yes, they do have a story for every painting... I never understand it myself...
can u people interpret what the painter is really trying to say? I think 10 persons will have 10 interpretations for a single painting... and when a painter will disclose the real one... everyone will be proved wrong in his/her thinking...

In a formal setting like a living room where you entertain
guests paintings would be more elegant. For more
personal space like a home-office or your bedroom
posters can be displayed based on your interest.

I have many of my own photographs
(not photographs of myself but photos that I took ;-)
enlarged and hanging in my house.
    I don't think I have any paintings.
I have a poster of Ansel Adam's bridal veil falls photo.
I also have a poster of the earth at night. I also
have another poster that has the human genome list!

when I was younger I used to have a poster of
    Rajinikant ;-)

yes thats true there is generally a story behind some art work, because it is drawn or painted with thought and those thoughts are transferred into art work. There are some artists who only do their art when they are in a particular mood, as they think they can create better that way! But i don't know how much of this is true!

You can also use posters of your favorite pictures as wall papers like I do to my bedroom walls .... That ll also give you a second layer of Peel able wallpapers . Keeping your original painted/wallpapered wall clean

But be warned if you r living with your parents , better not try it ...otherwise u ll find yourself homeless overnight
