| What do you think is the best Brand of Indian Wine ? .... By wine i mean white wine and red wine and not strong beverages like beer .........Well i ll vote for Grover and sula Especially Grover which has got many awards and also exports its wine to countries like france,U.K and U.s .... I think currently grover has a tie up with a French Wine company now .... But its reputation is growing by the day .... Sula which is not far behind and is one of india's largest producer .....These too get exported to U.S and Europe markets... IMO Grover and Sula are the only ones which comes close to imported stuff Other brands worth mentioning are Vinsura Blue Folds Indage VinBros |

Rep Power: 2 | Sula... all variants. Indage is also good. I prefer Home made wines (get a lot in Goa/Konkan) to any Indian brand though.... |

I Dont think u have tried Grover ... have u ? Their Shiraz Rose along with Kebabs [their own recommendation] will truly take u to heaven Quote:
While Cabernet Sauvignon are very hardy [disease resistant] unlike Merlot which is easily effected by climate and disease so more difficult to grow Blanc grows well in warm climes hence i guess these r preferred in India... Ofcourse we cant expect over Vineyards to be as sophisticated as the European's ..... But it is growing by the day ..... Try Grover's Rose Chiraz if u can .....IMO its the best Indian Rose wine @jay You seem to know so much about wines ,have u ever visited Napa Valley ??? Last edited by ShAdOwCoN; 10-28-08 at 03:29 AM. | Its more of a red than white wine ...... Yes rose wine ferments the least with the skin so its not as much of a wine as say red or white In fact rose wine is made as a 'by product' of red wine rather than by itself ..... |

Rep Power: 12 | I love wines but as they are soooo expensive here in India I resort to other stuff when I am in India... Its so much cheaper in UK you get a good red wine for Rs250-400 a bottle and here in India same stuff sells for Rs1500-2000 a bottle and I have never bought wine in India and the simple reason is its not something I can afford.. I didint know about this home made stuff... is it worth a try? Any one knows where I can buy desi wines here in Delhi? And most importantly how much does it cost? They both have international recognition ........ I personally did nt like Indage so much , but ppl say its good too Indian white wine is not so good , speaking relative to red or rose wine Quote:

| ^ Not true It is for ppl who consume wine regularly ...... There are a lot of logisitcs problems in buying Euro wine in India (u only get a few varieties and stocked in very few places)..... For regular drinkers (in India its impossible to get French or Italian wine on a regular basis) Indian is the best substitute , saving the euro stuff for special occasions . That Doesnt mean we have never drunk euro wine or know nothing about it . |
