Default Booze on Republic Day ?

    Hi guys,

Today we had a great party where we got sloshed. When I asked my friend (after 3 patialas) what we were celebrating. He said it was Republic Day. Now friends, I have a question....... I mean, is it politically correct to celebrate Republic Day with booze ?

The answer does not matter much now because the deed is done. Yet, opinions are requested.

well most of today's youth does not even know the difference between Republic Day & Independence Day
As regards "political correctness" well how many of our politicians know who wrote the national anthem?

Yes, thats true many of our politicians don't know who wrote the national anthem. Now a days on news channels there is a news that some muslim communities don't want to say national anthem. I don't know, why?
Does anybody knows the whole story?

I think Republic Day, Independence Day & Gandhi Jayanti are Dry Days...u can't be served alcohol in hotels etc.
But if u want to have it at home, there's no one to stop you.

this thread reminded me of one incident .... it was duting the durga puja ,the biggest festival here in kolkata, 2 years ago ... it was the day of vijaya dashmi and it happened to be 2nd october but none of us (me and 7 of my friends) remembered the day ... its quite natural - during the puja vacations ... we decided to meet up and went to a bar where we usually go - and only after we saw at the gate of the bar that "silver and sands would remain closed on occasion of gandhi jayanti" that we realized it was 2nd oct ... we had coffee at ccd then ...

Dry days are dry only for newbies. For those who really need their drink there are so many other alternate sources.

BTW in Gujarat (the land Of Gandhi) booze is available everywhere...you just have to know whom to get in touch with!

yaar, it was 2nd oct. all the FL shops were closed. there are some other ways of getting it in black but the place we were was one of the busiest areas of the city - and you dont find such backdoor ways there

No offence, friend. I know what you mean. There are times when even the "know alls" are at their wits end trying to find a drop.
