    Thumbs up Drinks to cool you of this summer

    Hi guys ,

    Here are some easy to make home made drinks which you can use to cool of this summer . It also makes a great welcome drink

    Lime Panaka
    Ingredients

    2 limes
    5 glasses water
    150gm jaggery
    1/2 teaspoon dry ginger powder
    1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder (optional)

    Method

    * Squeeze the juice out of the limes. Add water and stir well. Add the jaggery after powdering and stir till it dissolves completely . Add the dry ginger powder
    * Strain the mixture
    * Add the cardamom powder if you went
    * Serve Chilled

    Aam Panna
    Ingredients

    2 medium sized raw mangoes
    10 teaspoons sugar
    cardamom powder-1/2 teaspoon
    A pinch of saffron
    Water

    Method

    *Cut the mangoes into medium sized pieces and pressure cook for 10 minutes
    *Take off skin,and mash the pulp;if necessary blend in a mixer
    *Add four glasses water to the pulp
    *Add the pinch of saffron , the sugar and the cardamom powder
    *Refrigerate and serve chilled

    Cucumber Jasmine Iced tea

    Ingredients

    Jasmine Tea -10gms or 1 tea bag
    Fresh Cucumber juice (made without seeds) -20ml
    Honey to taste
    Ice cubes
    Fresh lemon juice

    Preparation

    *Brew the jasmine tea in boiling hot water for 2 mins
    *Fill up a tall glass with ice cubes
    *Pour the hot brew over the ice
    *Add sugar honey to taste
    *Top up with cucumber juice and lemon juice
    *Garnish with cucumber strips and fresh lime wedge

    aaam panna we usually make @ home n its fun to drink it on summer evenings or noon also.....lime panaka is almost similar to wht i drink everyday ......@ evenings when i get back from work..... its got the flavour n its refreshing....

    Thanks for the cool stuff. I think i'll lay off the chilled beers for a while and try some of these. Btw, what's a jaggery?

    do u mean sugarcane juice......thts also good for summers....but make sure u drink it fresh & at hygeinic places as ......there r chances to catch a couple of dangerous disease from it.....

    its a kind of a natural sugar ........ its brown and powdery like ..... used a lot in India to make sweets

    in the above pic jaggery is lumped into a cylinder like shape

    its very easily available in the market

    when you are travelling out its recommended that you don't take sugarcane juice, because sugar content tends to absorb water and thus dehydrates body.

    In clear contrast of this, common salt helps retain water content of body coz of the presence of Na , sodium.

    I love sugarcane juice tho, can't resists drinking it.

    But usually i settle for lemon juice, and i feel its best next only to buttermilk.

    ve tried nibooz ....fun drink...i atleast liked it....

    Sugarcane juice is very very healthy and good but avoid having it with ice. Generally most infections happen due to contaminated ice.

    Ive tried Nimbooz, its quite nice, but when i had it i knew ive tasted something like this before, and then i remembered, it tastes like flat 7up or limca!!!!


    Nice info Shadowcon, adding jaggery and dried ginger powder is something different will try this for sure.

    well preeti.......7 up & limca have got fizz in it......unlike nimbooz....!

    You are right...I tried lmn yesterday, does not taste like homemade nimbu pani at all. And yes like you said it does taste like a flat Limca.

    I know Aashaka, but i think you missed it where i have mentioned the word 'flat'. Not that i like flat drinks, but I've had it once or twice!

    Bad part about Nimbooz is that while it pretends to be "natural". It have only 2% lemon concentrate. This whole natural thing is a fake.

    heehee thats why i prefre making nimboo pani at home add water nimboo ka ras salt and sweet as per ur wish and some mint nothing can be more refreshing
