    Default Fashion

When the word fashion comes up some people associate it with only females, but its something that applies to all genders and age groups.

Fashion changes with the minute, and what i wanted to know from you guys was:

1.Is it important to change with fashion?

2.Should you always keep yourself updated with everything in fashion or just be yourself?

    3. To what extent do you go to stay in fashion......e.g. get the latest product no mater how much the product may cost, travel to get your product etc.

    4.Why is fashion so important?

5.What does fashion mean to you?

I am not very fashionable but I believe that I am usually well dressed and do have a dress sense.

A1. It is not important to change with fashion unless that fashion makes sense. For example, no amount of hepness of the "punk style" may deviate my mind. But I would certainly change from double breasted to single breasted suit.

A2. Being yourself is more important. And you should be well dressed.

A3. I would love to have the latest "Mont Blanc" but if wishes were horses ....

A4. Fashion is important because it makes you stand out from the crowd.

A5. Fashion to me means being well groomed in appearance and a lot of lightness in the pocket.

i ll say fashion doesn't matter much as long as u v got style..

Everybody needs to have his/her own style that defines the person..

there are so many fashionable people who suck at style..

while i once had a teacher who never bothered with keepin with fashion or dressin up, bout had an original style for which my male classmates worshiped her.

fashion is something but attitude matters more than fashion and what you wear. A man wearing Dhoti kurta can look far much better then a man wearing armani suit
and a girl wearing saari can kick a girl in mini's or may be micro mini's
its offtopic i know but still its something about fashion

I dont think one must be trend follower, he/she should be a TrendSetter

When it comes to clothing, one should wear what in he or she feels comfortable, that's it!!!

For me fashion is what you make it, yes ok you can

1.Its only important to a certain extent to change with fashion, but not too important either

2.its not necessary to keep yourself updated with every fashion style but i suppose the main things do matter...............(wearing bell bottoms at this time would be wrong)

    3. Not too fussy about the latest fashion products, if i see something i get it, otherwise wouldn't make any special efforts to get the product.

4.Fashion is important so that you can blend in with people easily, and not feel left out, its good for yourself as you get a change through wearing different styled clothes and its something which will make you feel good.

5.To me fashion means wearing clothes which look good and clothes which you are comfortable wearing, everyone has their own fashion statement and its not necessary to get the latest fashion product to be fashionable.

Well i think most of you have pretty much said it all....

    Fashion is

->Wearing what you feel is comfortable

->No 2 people are alike ....so never try to copy other people

->There is nothing like seasonal fashion .....Its something made up ,by commercial ventures to make people buy cloths more frequently ......

->Be a liberal....Mix and match ...try out different things

    ->Your attitude/personality also defines fashion

    ->Wear according to the occasion
Ex:Wearing cargoes to a meeting will make you look like a clown ...but on casual occasions can make you 'THE DUDE' ....

It's very interesting you begin this thread, since I have studied design myself. Well, I certainly agree that fashion changes, and sometimes way too quickly. I also agree that style is more important than fashion. Now, the other day I read something, and I agreed with it completely. It was along the lines that clothes become fashion once they evoke an emotion. Once someone reacts to what you're wearing, which is in direct relation to your mood, your way of life, sometimes your self-esteem, etc etc etc... then it's not just clothes - it becomes fashion, and this becomes your "look" - for the day, season, year, etc. I think designers are too caught up in the wrong ideals right now. Yes, fashion is a business, but remember that business can have impact. Now, a Chanel dress, for $30K, the impact that has is actually quite small. The Hanes white t-shirts I wear, that cost me $6.00 for a pack of six... how many people wear those, and then... where do those 6 dollars go - theoretically? It's a very long line, full of details as to what fashion can be, and where it is now.

    Smile 32?

You know, depending where you are... a size 32 is usually the norm, and actually even smaller than the norm! 32, in denim, slacks...? Everything seems to fit differently, actually... and honestly... I have a huge problem with how clothing fits, or is cut, right now- at least what is sold en mas... but... I'll post that next.

Nice to get some inputs from some1 who has studied something about fashion... its giving me a new angle about it...
well, I'll throw some light on waist size of men... Taking myself as an example... My waist is actually 33... doesn't look too much considering my height which is 5-11...lol... As majority of brands in India sell most of their denim jeans with sizes of 32-34... I face a catch... N moreover I notice different brands have different standards of measure... Such as ABC's 32 is good for me...but XYZ's 34 fits me well... Low-waist of 1 brand holds my butt well... but boot-cut of same brand doesn't look same on my thighs... Sometimes I wanna go to tailor-made jeans... but who has the time for it? Can't ignore it too.. As denim can never go out of style... A thick and strong denim jeans or other apparel is the base of any wardrobe build...

    Smile Very True...

First, let me agree with you that a good pair of denim jeans is... A MUST! Jeans will never lose their touch, and honestly... I like the more classic styles, like a pair of nice boot-cut jeans, with a plain white t-shirt, but then actually create the fashion effect with something like your shoes, or the watch you wear, or accessories, etc. That's what I consider to be style. Anyone can put on the clothes they buy, at no matter what the price is, but are you wearing the clothes, or are the clothes wearing you? The fitting issue... exactly the same with women! It's terrible! The thing is that different brans tailor to different markets. Lets say that ABC has great pants, but their market is very conscious of not "wearing a size 34 or 36" so... when they cut their clothes, for manufacturing, etc... they cut the size 36, and stamp a size 32 on it. I may fit into a size 2 for women in one store, and need a size 4 or 6 in the other. Also, the styling of the clothes, the patterns and such, are not all done with most quality and care. There is not just 1 generic female body figure, so... what looks great on 1 person may look horrible on another... because their butt is... or their hips are... or their legs are... so... tailoring is a good thing, the goal is to have clothing patterned out well, and then made. This is one of the projects I'm beginning myself. Clothing is terrible sometimes, and not to mention... that it's not very flattering either.
