I avoid fast food chains. I get some sort of heartburn sensation if i dine from such places. Of course i do eat socially with friends, but that it.

yes, that the problem
No matter how strongly you avoid fast food, still you have to eat it sometimes for socializing with friends.

All these joints in my humble opinion are places where food is over priced (I suspect 400 or more times) than their humble cousins. They serve you 'conveyor-belt' produced tasteless, unpalatable and some times unhealthy food in plush environment with loud music aimed to entice the youth.
The only good they do is provied employment at paltry salaries to a few overworked kids and remit hefty royalties to their foreign franchisee(which is not a good thing).
Another good they do is to allow rich parents to wash off their guilt ridden conscious (for not being able to devot adequate time to their wards) by throwing expensive birthday parties for friends of their wards ( a status issue).
No I have nothing against such joints except that they do not give value for money. If it is argued that the decor the music is part of the value. To them I say my main need to go such joints is food and which is their main stated bussiness too; they are not even mediocre both in taste and quantity.
Their adding status to my food does not fill my stomach nor give me value for my money. A full uncooked chicken in the market would perhaps cost Rs 100-120/-. And what do I get at these joints is two pieces for which I am charged Rs 80/- Rs 120/-. I would rather buy and cook (better) full chicken at home and eat it in more than two meals to my full satisfaction and more delicious too.
I do go to these joint knowing what to except once in a blue moon. And so would any rational person. After all what has status eating got to do with stomach.

For me the best Fast Food is the Kathi Rolls available all over Kolkata. (Egg Roll/Chicken Roll/Mutton Roll/Veg Roll/Paneer Roll etc.)
Preparation time: 3 Min.
Eating Time: 3 Min.
Cost: Rs.10-30
Effect: Enough to keep the hunger away for an hour or two
USP: u don't need to even stop to eat. Just grab the Roll and start walking to your next destination while enjoying your meal.

The best kathi rolls are possibly available near the PArk St. Metro Station, adj. to the Asiatic Society

Delhi and Chole Kulcha are made for each other. I don't know why but I have tried Chole at various places in India, but Chole from Delhi rock!
