    Default RoohAfza over Pepsi/Coke

It just because of an educated and aware youth that almost everyone of us know how harmful are soft-drinks are for our body. But still we are so much used to it, that we hardly skips them for even for a week.

Softdrinks are very harmful for your body so for your teeth. So the question is what could be a proper healthier and tastier replacement of these harmful drinks..the answer is ROOHAFZA.

Its the most popular drink and non harmful drink used in India. I am a big fan of RZ (roohafza) and its probably the best drink mix available in india. The best part is you can use it over most of eatable thing and almost anything drinkable (dont dare to mix it with your Rum/beer) be it water, milk, faluda icecream etc

ROOHAFZA actually comprises of two words ROOH + AFZA. Rooh means SOUL in urdu and Afza means that which nourises. So this syrup actually means that which nourises the soul.

    Rooh-Afza1.jpg r3.jpg

Roohafza was invented by Hakeem Ustad Hasan in around 1907. I can bet most of you are not aware about the ingredients they used while preparing this syrup. Here comes the list: (from wikipedia)

Herbs: Kurfa Seeds, Kasni, Munaqqa, Nilofar, Gaozaban, hara dhania.

    Fruits: Orange, Pineapple, Carrot, Watermelon.

Vegetables: Spinach, mint and hara ghia

Flowers : Rose and Keora, lemon and orange

    Roots : Khas

Roohafza is said to be a great alternative for Choclate milk.

So how many of you are saying good bye to Softdrink and starting drinking something healthier.

P.S: Hamdard officials please PM me for my bank details

I also don't like soft-drinks much. I have hated Colas from my childhood, and had always preferred Lime juice, or some other fruit juice.

I like roohafza too but not that much generally only in water, but I prefer rose syrup over this, which is similar but just has a rose taste!
And yes it is very refreshing indeed, it really quenches the thirst!

    Good post Manish!

I've stopped having cold drinks for almost 5 years. Whenever I feel like having a cold drink, I generally go for Cold cocoa, cold coffee, Butter milk or lassi.

I tried Rooh Afza but did not like the taste.
I love Badam Kheer, so I got Haldirams Badam syrup,
mixed in milk and I am hooked. It has a lot of sugar though ;-)

Sweet and creamy concentrate of almond and saffron

I also love rose milk. Lakshmi brand rose syrup + cold milk > any other drink

I dont like the perfumed taste of Rooh Afzaa. Sprite / Seven Up if a soft drink unavoidable.
