Mangoes are not ripened by injecting something. They are ripened by adding chemicals to the hay that is used to pack them. These chemicals generate the extra heat that is required to ripen them.

By why be paranoid about mangoes? Many fruits are ripened that way. And pesticides are rampantly used to protect apples, chickoos, grapes, organges, etc.

Mangoes have been ripened that way for ages. As long as you wash the mangoes (and that goes for any fruit), you are OK.
