| have you completed your engineering? i wont suggest you to go for m.tech for a career in gaming industry ... better start off from some indian gaming firms ... may not be big names like EA or Rockstar ... but after some experience you can apply for major gaming firms ... but this will really need some very hard workd and creativity ... as CTT said programming is a very important requirement for gaming jobs ... but even if you are not a very good programmer there are other career options in gaming industry like designing and animations, game testing, script building, etc ... one of my seniors is infact working in a gaming firm ... havent been n contact with him for some days... i will talk to him and give some more details here ... |

Rep Power: 2 | Its "gaming" btw... Majority of the game design and rendering is outsourced in India whereas the engine and other stuff are from somewhere else. Render and designing outsourcing is done especially in Bangalore and Mumbai. There was one company which moved from Mumbai to Pune. They did some work for bioshock. Those designers are standard grads but have done courses in rendering and designing but many learnt via trial and error. The smart and resourceful ones end up opening an office and bag major clients, some- like a 17 year old admin from erodov forums who runs the whole website from his dad's pocket and got a senior job posting out of his dad's influence and does nothing but takes out his iphone and flashes around. A friend of mine works there and the place name is "toonz" something in Mumbai. If its something like complete design- U.S. is the way to go. However you need to understand that you will have slog over there as well. Programming is one thing, marketing is another however their faith is "together" when it comes to becoming a hit. |

Once i attended one CSI Seminar where that fellow developed Tic-Tac-Toe game in C (With Graphics) and he's done the same thing.. But XNA Game studio is superb. To develop any game with XNA Game Studio, you must have Visual Studio 2005 Express Edition (Free From Microsoft). You can develop 3D Games also in that, and it supports all the languages supported by .Net Framework 2.0 (Visual Studio 2005 Express Edition) | |
