Thread: Playing Computer Games

I have had this issue with computer games, video games and such for as long as I can remember. Why play those games at all? I don’t get it why people are so addicted to those games? I have the same question about the new set of games introduced by face book be it Farmville or mafia wars or those so many other games on FB.

May be to comment on and have such an anti attitude towards these games isn’t right, when I haven’t attempted to play these games beyond one or two times, but I feel that these games are a downright waste of time. People get addicted to it simply because these games are the new craze and lets one compete with anyone even virtual strangers. These games merely eat into the time that can be spent in meaningful activities. Many get addicted to these games and let them take the place of meaningful social relationships.

I feel games like solitaire, sodoku; minesweeper, puzzles, crossword etc help the player gain something from playing such. These games need the player to follow logic, analyze and solve using a combination of past knowledge and new understanding. These games and activities help in keeping the brain active and buzzing being sort of brain exercisers. In fact indulging in such activities have been found to hold brain depilatory diseases such as Alzheimer’s and dementia at bay.

What do these games like Farmville and mafia war contribute to…?

Playing games is a personal taste/liking.

May be newer games shall be introduced on the social network platform involving skill and much advance utility hence shifting the players interests but the interests are highly subjective to individual choice.

I have no idea why so many people play those games all day long .... I mean its a test of how many times you can click the left mouse button

But then again they may see in those games what I dont ....

when play games me, i like playing games usually and when i am playing, i am not liking to do usually anything other than playing..
cause when playing its like playing always playing.............................

Computer Games are simulators
They give us what we cannot have in real life (eg:Flying planes,driving sports car,firing guns)

Computer games help in concentration(Headshots arent that easy)

But they should be played in moderation
Btw the JEE A.I.R 12 this year used to play 20min of CS almost everyday

The straight reason cant be given, for example why do we need that newspaper if we have Cable TV at home or Vice versa
