Default Do we have any farmers among us ?

I was just wondering if we have any one here who is a farmer by profession..
I would like to meet a few educated (who have studied economics at UNI) people who have taken up farming as their profession.

It would be great to share ideas to maximise crops output and I would also like to learn and share knowledge about dairy farming

I can help you out with ideas on organic farming and how to maximise output and also ideas about marketing your organic products and would also like tips on reducing use of pesticides and fertilizers and still keeping the crops healthy.

I would be very happy to meet a farmer online... I have never met one online so I am really looking farward to meet you guys if you do exist online some where

    LOL

Professional farmers as in who grow crops for selling commercially and make a living out of it. May be not full time farmers... Some people are from villages but do not like to call themselves farmers for reasons only they can understand... I know a lot of educated guys in Punjab who use the internet and have taken up farming as a professions like their forefathers but they do not take prid in calling themselves farmers for some reason I have never been able to understand... Some of them who have a lot of land make more money then any IT professional would make out of his/her job.. I have a friend who is from Sri Ganganagar and own 198 acres of land and his last years income tax return he filled up was for 60 lacks something and thats all tax free by the way No income tax atall. Thats more then Rs5 lakhs per month... beat that.. But he doesnt call himself a farmer.. he would normally say he runs his own business

I am sure there are a lot of guys here who own agricultural lands and do not take much interest in improving productivity and are actively looking for stupid jobs which would make them work like hell with very little in return... they would be much better off if they tried to increase productivity in their own lands and may be take up other peoples land to cultivate on contract basis as a lot of people do.

I have seen productivity go up by 300% for some crops on my own land... and I thought if I can find some one like minded we could share some knowledge and hopefully spread some knowledge to others in the process.

By the way there is no online resource specifically for Indian farmers leave alone having region specific information on agriculture.

Whet is the government doing? Manmohan wake up mate... and Sonia aunty please do something and get a website atleast for those who are looking for information...

Our farmers in India are not in good health do something... AB is in hospital as well

Yeah...Thats right.. Even if a farmer in our gen. is rich & tech. savvy... he won't like to call himself a farmer or a kisaan... govt. isn't doing anything to make it a respectable profession... neither is media... who just highlight "suicide by farmers"... I have never read a single success story of a farmer which can inspire me to become a farmer...

We got land near Karnal (Village Kachhwa;admin might be aware of the village) We ourself don't plough anything rather gives the land on lease every year...Therefore we are earning from agriculture indirectly
