I am a Mallu too you know. And from my point of view, they were actually praising Mallu's.

Diwali was ethnic wear day at my work know so may be he was trying to advertise his lungi at work

and trust me he was wearing that white lungi with white short kurta and a chandan tilak

I am not making joke or any region or community but telling the truth, sometimes it looks strange at work know. If you wear it while going to temple or in social function its great but its funny at work. I mean you just can't wear anything to office.
