Thread: Writing contest

First ever contest on www.indiabroadband.net

Sorry to keep you guys waiting for soooo long.... here we are now.

This is going to be an ongoing contest on a weekly basis and and the weekly prizes can run into thousands of rupees and who knows in the near future as we grow and God willing we would have prizes in Lakhs hopefully.


Its a bit complicated and will take some time for me to explain

All those who want to participate will write 300 word articles and each article ( I will explain later what you can write about) will be counted as one entry so one member can have 5-10 or 20 entries and have that many more probabilities of winning the prize.
The way we would decide the winner is by seeing the number of replies to the thread and the number of views it gets.. so we would first shortlist 10 entries which get the most number views to the thread and then out of those which ever thread has the most number of replies will be declared the winner.
Cut off time will be every Sunday 00:00 and the winner will be declared at that time every week.

If anyone has questions about this please fire away..

PRIZE:

Its a little complicated... say for instance we get 100 entries in total we would put in Rs20 for each entry into the prize money so we would have Rs2000 as a prize for the winner.
This doesnt end here...

Here is the fun part
For example Mr X participates in the competetion but doesnt win this time and say doesnt win for the next 10 weeks and then luck fairy smiles on him and Mr X wins say in March and the prize money in that week turns out to be Rs 12000 and Mr X being a regular participant have been participating in every competetion till then... we would add Rs10 for each article Mr X had submitted for contests here so if Mx had submited 100 articles by then we would add Rs 10 X 100 to the prize money which would be Rs12000 + Rs1000 for the previous contributions.

How to participate :

Its really easy Just write a 300+ words article on any topic you think our forum members and visitors will find interesting and post it in a new thread in an appropriate section and then post a reply in this thread : http://www.indiabroadband.net/contes...-30th-nov.html
with the link to your thread... You can post as many entries as you like. (This may change in future depending on response)
Please make it a point to post your thread link in the above mentioned thread to be qualified for the competetion.


Article requirements :

1) Articles should not be copied from anywhere and should be orignal and written by you. (any copied article will be disqualified)

2) Articles should be related to the theme of our forum.

3) Minimum of 300 words (the more the better for getting more views)

4) Your articles should make sense.

5) Make sure you run a spell check.

6) All other forum rules also apply.

7) Most importantly use your common sense.


The sooner you submit the better as your thread would get more views and your chances of winning the contest will be better then those who submit after you... Make your article more interesting so members join in for discussions brightening your chances even furthur.

Payment : ICICI bank, postal order or paypal. which ever suits you.


The competetion starts NOW Lets all do some typing then eh?

Finally the contest has started, but what is the subject of this weeks article writing contest?

There is no set topic.. You can may be write a review on the car you drive or about an upcomming model... Write about your mobile phone and review it.. Write a review about a movie may be or a tv serial..

You can also write tutorials on computers, laptops, printers , operating systems... anything really as long as you think it fits in one of the section on this forum...

You can may be write a comparision on diferent broadband providers or mobile service providers... write on wimax technology... or about the upcomming 3g launch..
You can write about the stock market as well...

So just about anything that can go into one of the sections we have here.

one question... what if someone writes an article and try spamming his thread with his own replies? don't u think a thread-starter's post count should't exceed 1 for that particular thread? I mean we can deduct all replies by the threadstarter from total no. of replies...

p.s.- hope u won't qualify this thread for competition...

You dont have to send it to me... Just post your article in a thread as mentioned in the orignal post.

This problem wont arise coz the first qualification would be number of views for that thread and then we would count the replies... so spamming wont be an issue here.

hmmm... just hope so...

hello admin ji! what do we mean by the "theme of the forum" please elaborate on that ..topics related to our forum meaning? we have everything here!!


plus i am a very lazy writer and i write throughout the day..so if it was one entry i would still move lazy self and get at it ! but the more the number thing is a little heavy for me any way its a good begining! not only will it nurture a healthy hobby and reward it but also pull some good writers on the block! hope so!


@farce- show me some of your stories sometime!

Themes as in whatever we have a seperate section for and wont look out of place so just about anything really...

You dont have to write more then one.. its just to increase one's chances to win and then more articles would mean that when you do win may be some other week... your prize money will be bigger accordingly as mentioned in the first post.

I think i would be good that you list all the main topics and better if we sort it as technical and non technical because some good people would start a discussion on wi-fi and router and for rest it would go over the head for most of the people.

What do you say???

Admin,what if a person views his own thread again & again just to increase the view counts. Is there a way to check who all viewed a particular thread?

ramesh what matter is count the replies.

you really need not to worry about the view counts and posts in thread we can sit back and check it by IP address too, we get the IP of each n every member who post in any thread and the IP which is used to register on forum, so if someone tries to be smart then we can catch that very easily.

Got one more doubt.
Mr.X writes an article (starts a new thread). He dosent win for that week. But in the next week or a week after that, his thread gets the most views & replies.Does he qualify for the prize.

Is it only the articles for that week are eligible for the contest or even the old articles (from the previous week) are eligible?
