Thread: Go and see the moon outside :)

If you are in India go out and check out the moon its beautifull..

The two stars on top of it looking like eyes are not both stars... one of them is the pole star and the other one is MARS


I tried my camers but the pictures come out really crap... it would be great if some one who have a good camera can take a picture and post it here...


Hurry up before you miss it for ever... go out and have a look ... it is in west direction. and this wont last too long.

Yeh i saw something like 15 mins ago, but i thought it was something normal! Let me go outside and check it out!

Its actually a 3 way conjunction of Jupiter, Venus and the Moon (in a crescent shape). This event that has occurred is called lunar occultation.

Apparently this will be visible for a couple of days, but i don't know how much of this is true!

But admin said its Mars??

Sorry Manish Admin's had too much vodka for the day... Preeti is right its not mars its Venus and Jupiter on top of the Moon.

This is going to be visible for the next few days.

The brighter one is Venus as far as I understand.

Thanks for the picture The one on the left is Venus and the Jupiter... Even after all that vodka Ive downed I am pretty sure this is correct

I found a high res pic. Google for "moon 1/12/2008" the second link.

I took one with my cellphone and the second planet is too dim.

I'll try to get a decent one with a proper camera today.
