gr8 idea mannu bhai !! thats the easiest option but prob is ppl like me wil have nothin much to do then

Its not the fear of posts being deleted.. i believe i dont have posted any post which should be considered as spams.. and if at all mods find any of my posts like spams then i request them to please delete them.

Actual reason for not being in the contest is that, i feel that i will never be able to post in threads like Good Morning, Good Night, Log off etc.. and to be competetive with the current posters one will have to post in these kind of threads too.

however if the point is "whats the point in having a contest" then please consider me in the contest and delete any of my posts which fall under the category of spams.

I didn't point it towards you or others, trust me...I was just giving my general view. Sorry if I have hurt you...

My reason is the same. Posting tech stuff alone is boring.

PS. From the begining, I wasn't planning to participate in contest.

Though this contest put me off due to heavy spamming on the forum... But I've no intention to leave this contest high & dry.... cuz after so many permutations & combinations our forum finally have a contest(which is still in beta)... And I wanna contribute for the sake of future contests... Even if I'm not in top 15... Wanna give others a run for their money!

As far as i know u can exclude sub forums but not single threads in vbullrtinboard ..Admin said the same in previous posts..... So keep in mind that Single threads cannot be excluded

Once jus4kix told all posts are soft deleted, does that mean that all the deleted one liners/spams can/will be retrieved after the contest gets over..

Admin has the option to hard-delete. If the post hard-deleted then they cannot be recovered.

Even if the posts are not hard-deleted, it is not possible to search only deleted posts and undelete them. So in all likelyhood, the deleted posts may remain deleted. If someone has a specific example of a post that he wants to be recovered, we can do that (if the post is still available).

I understand that we cannot exclude single threads. But, still saying this because you all missed it...

Just did an analysis out of curiosity, the ranking analysis can be had from indiabroadband.net - Traffic Details from Alexa

That spike in the graph you see is not due to the contest its due to the e-mail we sent to almost 40k members .... The impact of this contest is going to be negligeble if any coz I the number of posts per day is more or less the same as before may be a 10-15% increase and there are far less new threads being created now as compared to before... and thats what brings traffic so we are not really moving ahead.

The alexa thing also depends on how many of our visitors actually have an alexa toolbar and as far as I know not even a single techie would ever use that toolbar as I myself find it of no use atall... the only tool bar I use is of google and I guess thats true for most of us here.. Thats why those sites which have a large amount of naive visitors who have alexa toolbar installed will show better rankings on alexa and as our site is visited by more tech savy people like yourself will not really show the true rankings..

The impact of this contest if any will show up after a week or so... Its the new threads which make a difference not just number of posts... new pages on a site is what helps the most.

Why posts count on the stats is so less?
Yesterday,i was on the 5th ranking with around 240posts, now i am nowhere to be seen and post count is 176 it feels as i spend about 2hrs in middle of night typing those replies

Earlier the same happened with me, i didn't complain as i know i has posted with intention of increasing post count. Yes, i am honest enough to say, earlier i *tried* posting with intentions of increasing post counts

But Now i am sincerely trying to post and think twice before posting anything.
Its like posting with gun on your head, its becoming much harder!

Check the stats page at midnight every day to get the correct positions.

By the way you raised the exact same issue earlier as well... Please go throught the earlier replies on how the stats page works...

There is no seperate yard stick as you claim.

Its no fun answering the same thing again and again...

I am not sure if I extended the days it should show on the stats page last night... I have to go to the Mandir right now will calculate when I come back.

Wondering whether next contest can be Top 15 thread starters... If that helps the forum...

yes even i was thinking the same, because the post count doesnt quite work out, but next time we can have something like have new 20 threads opened as well as having posting counts!

Its a very good idea we will have a very intense discussion on what the new contest should be... we dont want any more complaints or stress next time..

Yeah... That can happen... but for a thread to be eligible to be counted for contest the only criteria should be that -

There should be atleast 5 or 10 replies on a thread from different members..

Apart from this-

• There should not be min. words limit like 250... As I felt it was the major reason why earlier contest flopped... everyone isn't an author...
  
• Nobody should be allowed to ask questions if their thread gets deleted in contest period... Admin/Mods know their job!

What ever contest, make sure there are clear/specific rules & criteria for selecting the winner.
