    Interview Tips

    Interview, is nothing but a face-to-face verbal exchange between two people. They try to discover as much information as possible in the least amount of time about some relevant matter. The candidate seeking job wants to learn about the position & the organization: & the employer wants to learn about the applicant’s abilities and experience. Both hope to make a good impression.

    Some important tips for preparing for an interview
    • Do a self-analysis – Know your strength & weakness.
    • Find out how relevant your competence is to the job your seeking.
    • Gather information about the organization/company.
    • Anticipate the likely questions that could be asked & their answers
    • If possible discuss with some employees of the organization of its work culture, etc
    Various areas from which questions are usually asked:
    • Academic background
    • Experience
    • Co-curricular activities
    • Extracurricular activities
    • General Knowledge
    Do’s
    • Be brief & spontaneous in your response.
    • Present the relevant matter in an organized way.
    • Be honest in referring to events, situations & experiences.
    • Listen carefully to the interviewer’s questions.
    • Speak in a conversational style & avoid using unnecessary words.
    Don’ts
    • Don’t give irrelevant information.
    • Don’t give excessive details about the topic under discussion.
    • Don’t try to change the topic of discussion.
    • Avoid long pause while speaking.
    • Don’t keep smiling all the time.
    • Don’t make any disrespectful remarks of people with whom you have worked.
    What does the employer expect?
    • Aptitude
    • Attitude
    • Achievements
    • Temperament

    Ramesh, That was a useful post. It would be nice if you can post some tips on participating in group discussions as well

    And if u do lie , also make up facts to support it properly as well and try to never contradict what u have already said..

    about one year back my sis also suggested me such things when i was pissed with wipro and was planning to move.

    Its very dangerous to lie ... you have no idea how far they ll go to double-check any 'facts' ..... They wont even hesitate to call up your old school to double check

    And if you do lie and get away with it ..... They will find it out later and this may severely hamper any prospects of you getting a promotion .....

    So its always best never to lie ...... e proud of what you have achieved and optimistic about what u have nt

    Yes. Calling up your old school and all is not anything new now.
    It happens frequently here when you apply with some good company.

    yep......u never kno how far they cud jus go n check ......as such i dont understnd y shud one lie......?

    yes, we shouldn't lie, but there are circumstance when things are not in you favor, suppose the instructor gives you some topic to start GD on, and you are totally an alien to that topic, then the time comes when you start to goof up things, repeat things, or copy things from other members.

    I am talking about the HR interview not the elimination rounds [GD , Apti etc]
