Earlier we had the coins in 1p, 2p, 3p, 5p, 10p, 25p, 50p. The first three were dropped because they were too expensive to mint and the Rupee had depreciated a lot. Slowly, the 5p and 10p also went out of subscription and today even the 25p coin is rare to find.

The Indian Mint no longer produces the coins in 1p, 2p, 3p, 5p, 10p, 25p form. 25p is still recognized. But coins in Re. 1, 2, 5 have been introduced. The government is thinking in terms of Rs. 10 coin also.

So the answer is there are really 4 coins in a Rupee (25 p x 4) but in all practical terms there are only 2 (50 p x 2).

The answer to that is 99. At the 100th paise, it gets converted to a Rupee.

    4 pices=1 anna
    16 anna= 1 rupee
    i.e. 1 rupee = 64 paise

thats why i provided u guys that wiki link to get some info.........

if we go with provided info on net u r rite(u just won a beer bottle leave a PM to me for that)

just change the 4 pies to 4 paisa coz pie is other unit

    here is the Decimalisation

    During 1835-1957, [2]
    1 rupee = 16 annas = 64 pices = 192 pies
    During 1957-64,
    1 rupee = 100 naya paise
    Since 1964,
    1 rupee = 100 paise
here is the 1st part of compi ended.........now time for pros.

    *********************************************

but there is a short time period was also there when the value of anna got changed(it was not provided over net but i also wont remember the actual time period )

so according to that changed rate u need to provide the actual amout of paisa in a INDIAN Rupee.........1 bottle for that answer also..........

    since it is 2009 now and 2009 > 1964.

    So I am correct.

    I said 1 rupee = 100 paise.
