Thread: Darker part of India is the good topic for Oscar?

Today we reach another Republic day after 62 years of independence we have achieved lot of thing may be our few of the Indian businessman is in the list of world top ten rich men, Indian economic status become high but still in India almost 42%(upto 55% unofficially) people are living in BPL list (below poverty line) and according to world bank Indian BPL list is increasing day by day.
May be few contemporary blockbuster Bollywood movie is not showing Indian poverty in movie. What ever be but foreign spectator always like to see the gloomy side of India if you look back the pattern of movie which earlier nominated in Oscar then we can see same picture of poverty. Now in movie Mother India and in Lagaan is a typical fight with poverty by some rural half-naked villagers and water (although it nominated from Canada) which was the 19th century story of widow humiliation in India. I am never telling that these movies are not real but I feel that few US & UK spectator only like to see and appreciate such movie I think they still feel ‘native’ are in same where, where they leave us.
I don’t know when one of the Indian movies will get probably Oscar in this year how I will celebrate it as a famous victory of Indian movie and art or it is a slap of Indian society that after 62 years of Independence still India can’t develop the condition of poor people and still economical diversity is the biggest problem in India.
How long Indian economical diversity and the condition of the poor people will not be improve we Indians have to see the British director movie ‘Slumdog millionaire’ in 2009 or US directors ‘dirtyhorse billionaire’ in 2019.
May be those movie will be nominated and probably win couple of Oscar also we will celebrate it as usual but
Is it real glory for India?

i doubt whether ,if a movie with the same plot as slumdog millionaire would have been made in india by an indian director , would have been a hit even in india ... there are darker sides in each country but they seem to enjoy other's pain .... slumdog millionaire as a movie is really good but what it portrayed of india is simply this that : india is all about slums,beggers,cheats and prostitutes ...

What if an Indian director had made the same movie (Slumdog..)....would it have got the same reviews from you people..

hypothetical question but still i am thinking that most of the foreign director chose such topic for India may be it coincident but still i think US & UK few spectator only like such movie topic also and Indian director has created such type of movie already few times in past so this is not new for India.

We shouldn't worry too much about the Oscars.

well if an Indian Director wud ve made such a film it wudnt ve come out of censor board only.....!!!! i dunno if it wud ve been a hit or not too....but definately i dont appreciate it.....!!!!

infact we shud make an effort to work towards these issues .....in a small way....whteva we can do to help .....

I just want to say in this the topic where they can enjoy they can make any movie with the name of dog or any animals name may be that's the British gentle man culture they feel that high living status is the only symbol of human.Yes a agree that Indian slum dwellers are living below the standard of what a human should stay but we never hate them or use such word.We still believable we can't become complete man to wear shoot or boot.Those person is similar like to animal who suck the blood of poor people for last 300-400 years in almost entire world.
