Default The Samsung Rollercoaster Ride!... yaaayyy....

This post is to make you all aware of the questionable quality of Samsung products,

i don't want any instances of your Samsung lasting a lifetime or anything.. i just hate it, will not stand its praise... sorry if i'm rude.

    1. Got 2 Samsung SGH C110 phones some years back (5.5k bucks each), both went dead 2 years later; in the space of a month!

    2. Samsung dvd writers, all of them i've seen in various places, (friends, family, cyber cafes) refuse to eject. Thank goodness i did not go for it.

    3. Standalone Samsung dvd player P350H, 2.5yrs down the line, dvd movies repeatedly freeze after playing for a few minutes. 3.5k bucks.

    4. The latest bit (tonight itself), carrying out a disk check on my Samsung 80GB HDD, encountered various folders tonight with 'Data error (Cyclic Redundancy Check)' errors!!! Good thing i have everything backed up. Just 2.5years.
Compare this to 2 other Western Digital HDDs who have clocked 4.2 years now, without errors. FYI I don't see it as a coincidence.

May i tell you, i take extreme care in handling my electronics. For example my JVC CD audio system PC X130 has lasted more than 15 years now and is still going strong.

I've just had it with this stupid brand....taken an oath to NEVER EVER to go in for a Samsung in my LIFE.

Just thought you should know... rest is up to you to decide. :38:

the failing samsung drive in event viewer. damnit downloaded a scrubs episode, and found half of the episode in bad sectors. and this is when i had performed a deep disk scan last night which means there are probably many more to come. now i don't even remember whether i had backed up all of the data or not.

yup its very bad... wasted many hours on this now.

really are they asking for money?? hmmm i dint know bout that. they are very short of meeting their expenses so it makes sense they're askin for money though... but it doesnt justify fooling people that registrations are open.

i'm getting the disc check tools from western digital, works with all manufacturers.

speedfan; it has an option to check the smart data against an online database.

    and also controls fan speeds.

nope wd's software is not what i was looking for.

The first HDD in my new hdd was a Hitachi drive bbut it crapped within 15 days , thankfully i hadn''t transferred the data from old computer.

It was replaced with a new WD hdd and was worried about it coz the temperature used to around 50-60 degrees. and sometimes it went to 65-67 when i have immediately put my comp to sleep. after 2 mins it goes back to 50 deg.

But after I upgraded my system with more ram and another seagate HDD, its staying at sub 50. Still am waiting till summer to find out. :38:

mine goes at max to 45 even during summers... u might want to touch the drive urself to see if its tha hot, it can give false readings.

try installing some fans... what age is the disk?

A message to all; Check out the event viewer every once in a while, it gives some useful info about the system, errors everything.

Control Panel--> Administrative tools--> Even viewer

Around 1.5 yrs. the funny thing is that the smart data shows its in 100 % good condition , but my 4 month old seagate drive is shown with 61 % health.

Is it physically possible to install a fan above a HDD (ofc provided enough space is there in the cabinet).
