    It could be, but i don't think the what so ever is written in that letter in wrong in any perspective. What do you think farcey?

    I found some links on internet which atleast confirm that (whatever might be his reasons) Lord Macaulay was the first one to introduce English as a learning course in India... And that he rubbished prominent Indian Languages & literature taught during that time viz. Sanskrit & Arabic!

    I don't think it is correct.
    I am pretty sure there were beggars and thieves in India in 1835.
