Default Is Indian society is liberal ?

    Is Indian society is liberal?
This question is often arising in the forum but little different form.
Some times Kissing in Public: OK or Not OK or

Live In Relationships Is Indian Society is Ready For This

But the fundamental question is really we are liberal.
Example like above the two threads one asks our opinion another ask the Indian society’s can accept which thing and which is not. But the point is that one same phenomena society will react different way in various place. Like live in relation would be accept in few Metro cities people but it will never want except in most of the village and small city’s people. So I just try to draw a picture how the society has been divided.
Now Indian society can be divided into several division

1.Age group- This is the very common problem of age difference I always watch that most of the veteran persons are very conservative(may be few exceptional is present) even in city also. If we try to find out the reason then it may be due to our morality, habit, cultural concept which normally build in young age now life style of society is changing in ever decade and at some point of age they can’t change them self according to society. After the shameful incident in Mangalore pub I saw few comment where few aged person condemn the attack but still they agree with Ram Sena’s ideology ‘that girl’s should not go to bar’

2.Rural & Urban difference –After the independence India’s city become developed lot’s of new matro city we get but development of rural area is as so much compare to city. Now in many developing city has effected by western cultural as the part of globalization but the problem is in the rural area where still not much development happen in last few year. Now in last decade cities are enter in mobile, internet Broadband technology, ATM where few village do not have the electricity and such think directly effect to life style & culture. As a result most of them never want to accept city life style.

3.Literacy – Literacy is also needed in our society it can develop our morality. Literacy mean not only knowledge base it also the base which way we can get good moral in life it will obviously help our society to develop as liberal society. But still most the part of the country is not literate enough.

4.Economical difference- India’s economical diversity is a most big problem in the country where so many billionaire present and just opposite way billions of poor ,middle class also present naturally living status and culture are very much different in each classes and also there are several difference present in each class society’s life style as a result several middle class not support few western trend due to they not habituated with such culture and need to remember that middle class is majority of our country.

So what you are thinking now really how many person of our country is present who is literate, cultured, habituated with all kind of society. I still feel that most of the person’s of our country not liberal enough (If we consider all Indian) that’s why few politicians are getting opportunity to do such shameless politics.

    Great Post Rupu

I understand your points and all the divisions you stated are great, Indian society is liberal or not we can not say in one word as it can not be a close ended question.
In some parts/ cases society is liberal but in most of the cases society is still not willing to accept the facts, they know the truth and everything but still they are not willing to accept these things in open.

Thanks vibes and also thanks to admin for repo
May be that's the major problem in our society that it is not equal in ever where but still i am optimistic that our entire society will be liberal if rural infrastructure developed, literacy rate become high and people can communicate each other but it will take few time.

In general, I think Indian society is conservative to the core.
