HOW NORMAL IS YOUR BRAIN? - A Great Illusion

This is an example of an amazing illusion!!!

If your eyes follow the movement of the rotating pink dot, the dots will remain only one color, pink.

However if you stare at the black "+" in the centre, the moving dot turns to green.

Now, concentrate on the black " + " in the centre of the picture. After a short period, all the pink dots will slowly disappear, and you will only see only a single green dot rotating.

It's amazing how our brain works. There really is no green dot , and the pink ones really don't disappear.. This should be proof enough, we don't always see what we think we see.

Excellent one saurav, seems like magic. I guess it all depends on how our brain interprets what we see .

    Nice.

This is a common test for colour blindness - I mean not exactly the above test but constantly flickering red and green lights. A colour blind person will fail to identify the colours.

but how do you explain the last part!? ... concentrating on the + sign ... makes the pink dots slowly disappear ... and only the green one is visible ... i know this is simply a great piece of image editing ... but hats off to the original creator ..

That is explained easily. The phenomenon is known as persistence of vision. This phenomenon cause many interesting side effects.

There is a book called "Physics for Fun" or something like that by Ya Perelman. If you have not read it, I suggest that you buy it. It is a wonderful book. I lost my own copy.

Hmm. Thanks for the suggestion. I will try to buy that. Though it is not related to the context here - You reminded me of another great book by Frank J. Tipler - The Physics of Immortality. The book has some controversies related to it and was banned for a few years. I have read parts of it.

There is no green dot. It's only in your brain.
What I mean is the pink dot doesn't turn green in your brain.
What you see as green is not a pink dot, it is actually
the absence of a pink dot. I predict if the dots were
blue then then we would see an orance dot.
