my fav is mr.lonely....not the akon version but the original old Bobby Vinton version which has the line...."i have nobody to call on the phone"...which is more relevant today as so many people fall in love and fall apart every sec..on mobiles do listen to it and do share your fav songs quote the line you like the most.

I'm a big music freak, my taste varies to folk to metal... Depending on mood... In normal mood i like to listen Soft rock and when get high my taste suddenly changes to heavy metal or indian rock (Indian ocean, Parikrama, FTN, etc)... I like to listen and see hindi songs on MTV and Channel V, Never sync in my ipod

EDIT: Apparently i forgot a whole part of my collection:

Careless whisper by George Michael YouTube - Careless Whisper - George Michael

Genie in a bottle by Christina Aguilera YouTube - Genie In A Bottle By Christina Aguilera (HQ Sound)

Disappear by Hoobastank YouTube - hoobastank - disappear

    Hindi

The best of the lot: Tanha Dil by Shaan YouTube - Tanha Dil

'Sajna' of Waisa Bhi Hota hai YouTube - Sajna aa bhi jaa - Aisa Waisa bhi hota hain Part 2

'Aankhen bhi' of Haasil YouTube - Aankhen Bhi Hoti Hai Dil Ki Jubaan- Haasil

'Dil kya kare' remix by Instant karma

May add some more... still think there's no music lover in the forum?

But these are only the songs which act as soothers to me. There are many other songs in the English category which i listen to regularly (there are no more in Hindi sadly, apart from some classics).

All these songs make me reach some other state of mind hence i generally stay away from them, until i'm feeling super crappy!

    added some more aashaka...

    yet some more ;

    Hindi: Dhaani by Strings http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_4pboivMpY

Mujhe mohabbat si ho gayi hai by RK Rathod

Ho gayi hai mohabbat by Aslam n Shibani Kashyap

    Tera chehra by Adnan Sami

BY THE WAY, these songs don't ruin my day, they bring me back to life at times, but at other times they change my mood to worse mainly because they make me think about the past...

    I think now its all.....

My favourite among such types of songs is a Malayalam song.
I can't find it online, just the lyrics. The version sung by Chitra
is the most soothing song I have ever heard.

actually in my case, it depends on the point of time i first heard the song...thinking about the past/future will always ruin your mood, even though you feel its cheering u up at first. and these songs have a great effect on this.

but it does not mean i like all the songs i've heard in the past..lol.. i've found that if i like a song at one listening, it quickly loses out.
then there are those which are played at some interesting points in some movies, most often than not i enjoy listening to them afterwards.

wow so to play rock and metal you first need to be pissed off and start singing(if you can call it a song) while the anger lasts
