No farce, the problem is, a large majority of India does not understand English. It will raise similar protests.

Hindi is _not_ the national language of India It is *one of* the national languages.

I think Punjabi would be the best language for the post of national language..

mainu punjabi wich gal karne mein vadda maja anda hega..

English is already the official language for government transactions. Hindi too have a great chunk of application presence. Tamil is widely followed by south Indians. If anyone wish to stay India, knowing Tamil will be a great advantage. So is the case with Hindi and North India.

I think english would be good for that as it can be use more easily in tech. fields but I think North India would never accept that. Northern regional parties there have manifestos against computers & English.
