Just because it is not proved doesn't mean it is not true,
check out Goedel's incompleteness theorem. In some
axiomatic systems there are things that are true that
are not proveable (paraphrased)

Have you read 'bout General Theory of Relativity by Einstein?
It shows that gravitation is due to the curvature of space & time.

This was not to be taken seriously. It was a joke. But what I have written above is not.
